About Us
The Law Offices of Sabrina Li, P.C. is a leading, full-service U.S. immigration law firm with offices in Los Angeles and Dallas, as well as international operations across Asia, Africa, and Central and South America. We are dedicated to helping individuals, families, and businesses navigate complex legal challenges with skill, compassion, and integrity.
We are proud to be recognized as a 2025 Inc. Best Workplaces honoree, a distinction that reflects our intentional investment in our people and workplace culture. Our firm prioritizes professional development, clear career pathways, and a culture of accountability and respect—creating a workplace where high performers can build meaningful, long-term careers.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and tech-forward HR leader to oversee and continuously improve our Human Resources function.
Reporting directly to firm leadership, you will own the complete employee lifecycle—from workforce planning and recruitment through onboarding, performance management, employee development, and offboarding—while leading a small HR team and building scalable HR systems that support our firm's continued growth.
This is not a traditional HR role. We are looking for someone who embraces technology as a core part of modern HR. Success in this position requires quickly learning new platforms, leveraging AI to improve productivity, automating workflows, optimizing HR systems, and using data to drive better decision-making and employee experiences.
The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution, thrives in a fast-paced remote environment, and is always looking for smarter, more efficient ways to improve processes, develop people, and strengthen organizational performance.
Key Responsibilities
Department Leadership
- Lead and continuously improve the firm's Human Resources function across the entire employee lifecycle while supervising, mentoring, and developing a small HR team.
- Partner with firm leadership on workforce planning, organizational design, succession planning, and long-term people strategy.
- Establish HR KPIs, develop leadership dashboards, and use workforce data to drive informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Champion innovation by evaluating emerging HR technologies, AI tools, and best practices that enhance productivity, employee experience, and organizational effectiveness.
HR Infrastructure and Systems Building
- Oversee the entire employee lifecycle: hiring, onboarding, development, retention, employee relations (performance evaluations, promotions, compensation reviews, employee transitions), and offboarding.
- Build and implement scalable HR systems, tools, and workflows to support onboarding, offboarding, performance management, and team communication across the organization.
- Evaluate and optimize our HR stack to drive efficiency, compliance, and improved user experience, leading to increased user utilization.
Learning, Development & Performance Management
- Design and continuously improve onboarding programs, structured learning pathways, digital training resources, SOPs, workflow documentation, assessments, and certification programs.
- Deliver engaging learning experiences, monitor training effectiveness through reporting and analytics, and continuously improve knowledge retention and employee development.
- Partner with department leaders to strengthen coaching, feedback, performance management, and career development initiatives.
Employee Relations & Culture
- Foster a high-performance culture built on accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Serve as the primary HR partner for employee relations, workplace concerns, performance discussions, and conflict resolution.
- Partner with Leadership to build strong Onboarding, Recognition programs, performance feedback, satisfaction surveys and career development frameworks to improve employee retention and employee experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
- 5 Years++ of progressive HR/People Ops experience with prior experience as a first or early HR hire in a globally distributed environment. Leading an HR Function, mentoring or managing others with demonstrated ability to seamlessly shift between strategic leadership and hands-on execution of HR operations.
- Professional HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, CIPD, or equivalent (preferred).
- Proven experience leading the HR function in a U.S.-based law firm or other professional services (required).
- Exceptional technology aptitude, with the ability to quickly learn, evaluate, implement, and optimize new software platforms, digital tools, and AI technologies (required).
- Demonstrated experience leveraging AI to improve productivity, automate workflows, streamline recruitment, create documentation and training materials, and improve operational efficiency (required)
- Excellent analytical skills with experience developing HR reports, dashboards, and workforce metrics to support leadership decision-making.
- Outstanding written and verbal English communication skills, with the confidence to partner directly with senior leadership and managers and the ability to deliver clear, engaging, and professional presentations during staff meetings, onboarding sessions, employee check-ins, training programs, and other firm-wide communications.
