Responsibilities:
Operational VAT Compliance
Oversee high-quality end-to-end indirect tax return preparation for multiple EU countries on behalf of multinational clients, ensuring all process steps, internal controls, and review checks are consistently followed. This involves oversight of VAT accounting processes, including balance sheet reconciliations data validations, and ensuring the accuracy of the source data used for the returns.
Act as the final reviewer and approver for the indirect tax returns assigned to you, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
Serve as a key link between the delivery teams who prepare the tax returns and the Client Management team, who coordinates with client stakeholders and KPMG member firms globally.
Identify opportunities for automation, simplification, and process improvement to enhance the efficiency and quality of the overall compliance workflow.
Maintain and update auto-correction rules and ensure that any relevant legislative changes are well understood and correctly applied by the delivery teams.
Provide regular training sessions to team members so they are up to date with legislative changes and incorporate these effectively into their work.
Ensure that desktop procedures and internal checklists are regularly reviewed, updated, and consistently followed by all team members.
People Management & Team Leadership
Lead a team of approximately6–10 people.
Ensure fair and efficientallocation of workwithin the team.
Keep the team informed about relevantcompany developments and VAT issues.
Allocatebuddiesto new team members and support their onboarding.
Approvetimesheets and holiday requestsand monitor compliance withutilisation targets.
Request hiring when needed,participate in interviews.
Act asperformance managerfor team members, conduct evaluations, and provide regular, constructive feedback.
Develop, coach andretain team members, supporting their career progression.
Organiseteam eventsand contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture.
Requirements
Preferred background: min. Vocational Degree or College / University Degree
Languages:Strong written and spoken English language knowledge
Technical skills and Experience:
At least 4+ years of experience with European VAT compliance preferably more than one European country either at a Big4 firm or at a Shared Services Center or as part of an in-house VAT/Indirect Tax compliance role
