The expansion of the Building Science Department means we are now looking for a Building Science Manager, to be based in Skofja Loka, Slovenia and reporting to the KI Head of Building Science (EMEA + APAC).

As a Building Science Manager, you would support research and testing in the fields of building science focused on thermal insulation and fire safe design, translate complex building science principles into actionable commercial and product strategies as well as sales argumentations, drive specification and continuous operational technical support to regions, mitigate technical risk, and actively participate in innovation developments, the future direction of building codes and industry standards


What you’ll be doing:

  • Support on research & analysis: participate in and coordinate projects investigating real performance and testing in any of the building science categories, especially thermal and fire performance. Analyze testing and real building performance data and assess how building design can be improved

  • Contribute to development of products and systems that could contribute to high quality execution and or make use/installation more efficient, more robust or easier

  • Co-create international marketing and training content based on building science-based facts and strong proven sales argumentation to drive premium positioning; increase the knowledge of markets regarding fire-safety aspects and brand messaging in technically correct manner

  • Operational technical support to markets: project-specific hygrothermal calculations; checks of local standards to support local enrolments of Knauf calculation & building design tools

  • Train and support regional and local teams to establish and maintain powerful and skilled local technical sales expertise and building science community to ensure prompt and professional service to customers for winning the projects

  • Innovation and future readiness: help supporting Front-end innovation culture; monitor emerging building science and technology trends; Maintain international building code development overview; Participate in technical committees for standardization and methodology developments


    Expected business travels is 30% of time.


What we’d love for you to have:

We are interested in you as a person; your attitude, behaviours and values. As long as you have the willingness to learn anything you need for the role that you don't already have, we'd love to speak to you. We're looking for someone who has

  • Relevant experience of min. 5 years in different positions related to building science as well as degree in building science/physics, architecture or engineering (civil, mechanical…) or equivalent

  • Building science/physics expertise: working experience and deep understanding of building science principles, especially hygrothermal performance, fire safe building design and energy efficiency in built environment

  • Working experience in both office, on-site and laboratory work activities is highly preferred

  • Direct working experience with architectural & engineering bureaus, contractors, housing developers, building code authors and topical technical committees is highly preferred

  • Experiences with prototyping, on-site testing (thermal, fire) is preferred

  • Advanced MS Office user (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Experience with engineering tools:

    • hygrothermal calculators (1D, 2D, 3D)

    • building level energy efficiency calculators

    • CAD, BIM

  • Language: Fluent in English. Any other language is a plus

  • Good verbal and written communication & people skills

  • Proactive and efficient mindset, adaptability to changes and open attitude

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects effectively

  • Independent and responsible for delivering the results

  • Curiosity and innovative spirit, linked to strategic thinking

  • Ability to dive deep into complex technical matters and provide clear and sound summaries for variety of audiences

  • Eagerness for learning and teaching/training others
