This individual will support the design and development of electrical systems for K-12 and commercial projects, ensuring compliance with client needs and industry standards. The ideal candidate will be actively pursuing their Professional Engineer (PE) license anddemonstrate strong technical skills and collaborative capabilities.This role involvesworkingwith multidisciplinary teams, managing project timelines, andcross-functional collaborationwith architects and other engineers.


This remote position requires the individual to live in the state of Michigan with the ability to regularly travel throughout the state to client sites. 


Essential Responsibilities: 

Design and Development: 

  • Design of electricalpower, lighting, life safety and securitysystems for commercial and K-12 educationalbuildings. 
  • Develop detailed electrical drawings, schematics, one-line diagrams and specifications. 
  • Ensure designscomply with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations. 

 

Project Management: 

  • Manage electrical engineering projects from concept through completion. 
  • Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders. 
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project delivery. 

Technical Expertise: 

  • Provide technical guidance andexpertise in theselection of electricalpower and lightingsystems, life safety systems and security systems and components. 
  • Conductdetailedsite inspections and assessments to ensure design feasibility and compliance. 
  • Perform load calculations,lighting calculations,short-circuit analysis,arc flash hazardand other engineering calculations as needed. 
  • Specifying lighting controls and luminaire selections. Ensuring lighting designs meet current standards and the clients’ needs. 
  • Specifying and sizing standby power systems. 
  • Specifying auxiliarysystems, including fire alarm systems andaccess control. 
  • Integrating withCCTV and other low voltage systems design consultants. 

Quality Assurance: 

  • Support reviewofquality control checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of designs. 
  • Address andhelpresolve any technical issues that arise during construction. 

Client Interaction: 

  • Interface with clients to understand project requirements and provide technical solutions. 
  • Support thepreparation andpresentation of project proposals, reports, and technicaldocumentation. 
  • Ensure client satisfaction through effective communication and project management. 

Other: 

  • Performs other duties, as assigned. 

Supervision Received: 

​​Specific Direction: Follows established work procedures. Receives periodic checks for performance. Refers unique questions/conditions to immediate supervisor.​

Education & Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, ArchitecturalEngineering or a related field. 
  • Minimum of5
    years of experience in electrical engineering, preferablywith prior K-12 design experience. 
  • Proventrack record of successfully managing and delivering complex projects.
     
  • Demonstrated creative thinking, design ability, and technicalproficiency 

Licenses and Certifications: 

  • On track to obtainProfessional Engineer (PE) license in State of Michigan,or ability to obtain license via reciprocity 

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Proficient in electrical designsoftwareand lighting design calculation software;required. 
  • Proficient in Revit;required. 
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and regulations. 
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. 
  • Strongand effectivecommunication skills, interpersonal skills, and active listening skills. 
  • Knowledge ofMicrosoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) 
  • Knowledge of Bluebeam; preferred. 
  • Strongorganizational and time management skills;with attention to detail 
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meettightdeadlines 
  • Ability and willingness to travel30 – 40% of timethroughout the State of Michigantoclient/project sites as needed. 
  • This position requires candidates to live in the state of Michigan with flexibility to work from home and near one of our four (4) offices. This position also requires the ability to travel to client sites across the state. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with sustainable design practices and energy-efficient systems. 
  • Knowledge of advanced electrical systems such as smart grids, renewable energy systems, and energy storage solutions. 
  • Experience in managing client relationships and business development.
