Commissioning Lead Engineer – Boilers (Contract)

Kanadevia Inova is recruiting aCommissioning Lead Engineer – Boilers to support commissioning activities at our Walsall plant. This is a senior contract role with responsibility for the safe, compliant, and successful commissioning of thefull boiler package on alarge-scale Energy from Waste (EfW) project.
Role Overview
The Commissioning Lead Engineer – Boilers will take ownership of boiler commissioning activities, ensuring delivery in line with project requirements, contractual obligations, and HSEQ standards. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders in a complex commissioning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and ensure fullHSEQ compliance throughout the commissioning phase, actively promoting a strong safety culture and effective risk mitigation
- Review, implement, and enforceHSEQ requirements during commissioning, ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance withRAMS, site standards, and applicable legislation
- Take overall responsibility for commissioning thefull boiler package, ensuring all systems are delivered safely, on time, and in line with contractual and technical requirements
- Oversee and coordinate commissioning activities to ensure alignment withproject contracts, schedules, budgets, and approved standards
- Coordinate withinternal teams, subcontractors, OEMs, and external authorities to ensure safe, timely, and high-quality execution of commissioning activities
- Maintain accurate commissioning documentation, provideregular progress reports, and contribute tolessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives
Candidate Profile
- Degree-qualifiedMechanical or Process Engineer with proven experience in thecommissioning of Power or Waste-to-Energy (EfW) plants
- Demonstrable experiencedelivering the full boiler package on alarge-scale EfW facility
- Proven leadership experience inHealth, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) management, with strong knowledge of relevant HSEQ legal requirements
- Holds avalid Safety Contractors Certificate (SCC) or equivalent safety qualification
- Hands-on experience withLOTO (Lock Out / Tag Out) andPermit to Work systems in industrial commissioning environments
- Solution-oriented, proactive, and a strong forward planner with excellent organisational skills
- Clear and confident communicator, able topresent ideas effectively to multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
- Fluent in English; additional languages are an advantage
