QA Engineer (Banking)

We are looking for an experienced QA Engineer to join our Banking team and help establish and strengthen dedicated QA practices within the team.

As aQA Engineer – Banking, you will help ensure the quality and reliability of ourCore Banking and Payment platforms. You will work across automated and manual testing, with a strong focus onAPI, backend, integration, and transaction flows.

This is a hands-on QA Automation role where you will help identify issues early, improve test coverage, and make sure our banking services arestable, reliable, and ready for our customers.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of QA activities, understand systems deeply, and contribute to building a strong quality mindset within the team.

Location: Remote from Poland, Portugal (Contractor arrangement) or Cyprus Onsite (Relocation support provided)
Reporting to: Team Lead

What you will do:  

• Perform end-to-endfunctional, integration, regression, and system testing for Core Banking and Payment platforms.
• Build and maintain automated tests usingPython (PyTest) and end-to-end browser automation tools such asCypress and Playwright.
• Create and execute test cases based on new feature implementations.
• Participate in refinement sessions and provide QA input early in the development lifecycle.
• Prepare detailedtest plans, test scenarios, test cases, test data, and coverage.
• PerformAPI and backend testing, ensuring correct system behaviour and data integrity.
• Conductmanual testing when needed to ensure full test coverage.
• Analyselogs and system flows to identify issues and understand root causes.
• Identify, document, and track defects with clear evidence and reproducible steps.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to improve quality and delivery.
• Contribute to deliveringstable and reliable software in a complex banking environment.

What we need:

• 3+ years ofQA automation experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• • Python
  • PyTest
  • Cypress
  • Playwright
• Strong experience infunctional and integration testing.
• Experience withAPI and backend testing.
• Experience testingpayment or transaction flows and validating system behaviour and data integrity.
• Good understanding ofpayment processing, balances, and transaction data.
• Ability to design and structureclear, maintainable test cases.
• Strong debugging skills, including working withlogs and system behaviour.
• Good communication skills and the ability to explain technical topics clearly.
• Comfortable working infast-paced, evolving environments.

Nice to have:

• Experience inCore Banking, Payments, FinTech, or e-commerce platforms.
• Experience withEUR and/or GBP payment flows.
• Understanding ofledger and balance management.
• Experience withtransaction flows or distributed systems.
• Exposure tocloud-based environments or microservices architectures.
• Familiarity withCI/CD pipelines and Git.

Hiring Process:

• Step 1 – Thinking in Action (40 minutes)Your first conversation will be with our Talent Acquisition team. We'll explore your background, career journey, motivations, and overall fit for the role. As part of this discussion, you'll also complete a short technical screening that will be reviewed by our engineering team. This stage helps us understand both your experience and how you approach technical challenges.
• Step 2 – Build in Production (60–90 minutes)Meet with the Team Lead and technical experts for a practical assessment. Depending on the role, this may involve a live coding exercise or a real-world scenario designed to evaluate your technical skills, problem-solving approach, and ability to work through challenges similar to those faced by our teams.
• Step 3 – Final Interview (45 minutes)The final stage is a group interview with senior members of our Technology squad, which may include the CTO, CPO, and Team Lead. Together, we'll discuss team fit, collaboration style, expectations from both sides, and any remaining questions about the role, team, or technology domain. This is also an opportunity for you to learn more about our culture and ways of working.
