Pay: Up to $32.00/hour, depending on experience

Position Summary

We are looking for aQuality Control Inspector with structural steel fabrication experience to help verify the quality of steel components, welding, materials, and coatings. This is a hands-on shop-floor position focused on inspection, documentation, code compliance, and working with production teams to address quality issues.

What You'll Do

• Inspect structural steel fabrication, welds, materials, and coatings for quality and specification compliance.
• Verify work againstAWS D1.1, AWS D1.5, AISC, and other applicable standards.
• Check incoming materials, parts, and welding consumables for conformance.
• Identify and document materials and inspection results according to established procedures.
• Maintain QC logs, inspection records, and related documentation.
• Calibrate and maintain welding equipment and inspection tools.
• Support welder qualification, testing, and certification activities.
• Assist with training involving welding, fitting, and quality requirements.
• Maintain drawing control and other quality-related processes.
• Work directly with production and management to investigate and resolve quality concerns.
• Participate in continuous improvement and training activities.
• Promote safe work practices throughout the fabrication operation.

Required Qualifications

• At least2 years of structural steel fabrication experience.
• Previous quality control, inspection, or manufacturing experience.
• Working knowledge ofAWS D1.1, AWS D1.5, and AISC standards.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and specifications.
• Experience using inspection and measuring equipment, including:
  • Fillet weld gauges
  • V-WAC gauges
  • Squares
  • Tape measures
  • Other standard QC inspection tools
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and workplace safety.

Preferred Experience

• CurrentCertified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
• Experience with nondestructive testing (NDT), including:
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
  • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
  • Penetrant Testing (PT)
  • Additional certifications involving structural steel fabrication, bolting, coatings, or welding inspection.
  • Previous experience in a steel manufacturing or fabrication environment.

Work Environment

• Primarily based on the production floor with limited office work.
• Active manufacturing environment.
• Non-climate-controlled facility with exposure to changing temperatures.
• Requires frequent standing, walking, and inspection of materials throughout the shift.
