Heavy Equipment Service Mechanic
Location: Taneytown, MD
Job Type: Direct Hire
Starting Pay: $24.00/hour β higher pay available depending on experience
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced mechanic to keepheavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and other motorized equipment operating safely and reliably. This position involves hands-on troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, and occasional travel.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and other motorized equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical and technical problems involvinghydraulics, electronics, small engines, air conditioning, and related systems.
- Complete maintenance and repair work orders with accurate mileage, operating hours, and repair information.
- Coordinate repair priorities and emergency maintenance needs with the Shop Foreman.
- Help reduce equipment downtime by completing repairs efficiently.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and the work area in a clean and organized condition.
- Follow required safety procedures and regulations.
- Travel as needed for work assignments, training, meetings, and other business-related activities.
- Perform additional maintenance duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of maintenance experience working with heavy equipment, trailers, cranes, trucks, or similar machinery.
- Experience in at leasttwo technical specialties, such as:
- Hydraulics
- Electronics
- Small engines
- Air conditioning
- Other related mechanical systems
- High school diploma/GED plus trade school, dealership, or factory service training equivalent to an associate-level technical education.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle urgent repair needs.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Professional certifications related to heavy equipment maintenance and repair are a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, climbing, walking, and standing.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
- Extended hours may be required.
- Ability to regularly lift up to50 lbs.
- Assistance required for heavier items.
