Starting Pay: $31/hour — higher depending on experience

Position Overview

We are hiring aStructural Steel QC Inspector to support quality control activities in a structural steel fabrication facility. Experienced senior-level structural steel fitters and fabricators with strong quality and inspection knowledge may also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect structural steel components throughout the fabrication process.
• Conduct daily quality checks on completed and in-process work.
• Compare materials and fabricated components against shop drawings and project specifications.
• Perform dimensional layout inspections and verify proper part placement.
• Identify, document, and follow up on nonconforming work in accordance withAWS D1.1 and/or D1.5 requirements.
• Perform both in-process and final inspections.
• Work directly with production personnel to identify quality concerns and determine appropriate corrections.
• Assist with quality improvement efforts and initiatives.
• Support preparation for and participation in annualAISC QC audits.
• Maintain accurate inspection and quality documentation.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in structural steel layout and fabrication
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and construction drawings
• Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes and quality standards
• Welding certification inAWS D1.1 and/or D1.5 preferred
• Senior-level structural steel fitting or fabrication experience may be considered in place of direct QC experience when accompanied by strong quality knowledge
