Role Overview

We are seeking an experiencedStructural Steel Plant Manager to lead fabrication operations across two nearby facilities and two shifts. This position provides hands-on leadership to production supervisors while overseeing safety, quality, maintenance, productivity, scheduling, and on-time shipments.

The manager will lead a growing workforce of approximately 65 employees, with a target of approximately 90, supported by 5–6 department and shop supervisors.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct daily production activities across both facilities and shifts.
• Lead and develop supervisors and production teams.
• Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with workplace safety standards.
• Oversee facility, machinery, and equipment maintenance.
• Improve fabrication efficiency, workflow, and overall shop productivity.
• Maintain quality standards and ensure work meets applicable AISC and AWS requirements.
• Coordinate production schedules and shipping/delivery commitments.
• Oversee multiple departments, including:
  • Receiving & Inventory
  • CNC Processing
  • Fabrication & Welding
  • Paint
  • Shipping
  • Support recruiting, employee retention, workforce development, and succession planning.
  • Address employee performance and disciplinary matters as needed.
  • Identify potential production issues and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Manage multiple large, heavy, and complex fabrication projects at the same time.
  • Support overall plant operations and other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of structural steel fabrication experience.
• 5+ years of leadership experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or production.
• Strong knowledge ofAWS D1.1; CWI certification preferred but not required.
• Experience working in anAISC-certified shop or fabrication environment.
• Experience managing large, heavy, and complex structural steel projects.
• Working knowledge ofSSPC and ASTM coating requirements.
• Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication operations, workflows, and shop practices.
• Experience overseeing multiple production departments.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to anticipate operational issues and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Strong hands-on leadership approach with the ability to work effectively with both supervisors and production employees.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
