Role Summary: As aSenior DBRE, you are the guardian of our data’s performance, availability, and scalability. You aren't just managing instances; you are automating the entire lifecycle of our data platform. We are looking for an engineer who iseager to explore how AI-driven automation and MCP (Model Context Protocol) integrations can take our operations to the next level—from predictive scaling to streamlining incident response. From managing mission-criticalSQL Server andPostgres to provisioning viaTerraform, Docker, and Kubernetes, you will be the backbone of our data reliability strategy.

Responsibilities

Automation Evolution: Proactively explore and implement AI tools, LLM integrations, andMCP (Model Context Protocol) to reduce routine database toil, optimize query performance, and accelerate incident resolution. We want a creative mind to help evolve our operational duties.
Modern Data Stack: Support our data warehouse ecosystem by optimizingSnowflake performance, including application packaging and testing.
Performance Engineering: Own the deep-level optimization ofMSSQL (crucial for on-call stability) andPostgreSQL at the server, database, and query levels.
Capacity Planning & Cost Optimization: Forecast resource utilization across platforms. Identify cost-saving opportunities, optimize Snowflake credit usage, and right-size AWS infrastructure.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Orchestration: Automate all data infrastructure usingTerraform,AWS,Docker, andKubernetes. You will manage containerized data services and stateful workloads.
CI/CD & Release Management: Manage and optimize deployment pipelines usingGitLab andOctopus Deploy, ensuring safe, repeatable database schema changes.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create technical documentation, including runbooks, "how-to" guides for developer self-service, and clear architectural diagrams.
On-Call & Triage: Serve as the subject matter expert for SQL Server, Postgres, and Snowflake in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation.

Qualifications

DBA Fundamentals: 10+ years of experience maintaining and optimizing high-traffic production databases, specificallyMicrosoft SQL Server,PostgreSQL

knowledge inSnowflake is a very bug plus
DevOps Expertise: Professional experience withTerraform,AWS,GitLab, andOctopus Deploy.
Containerization & Orchestration: Expert-level knowledge ofDocker and production experience running stateful applications withinKubernetes (K8s).
AI & Integration: a big plus is a knowledge ofMCP (Model Context Protocol) and experience using LLMs to assist in coding or system automation.
Scripting & Programming: Expert-levelPython andPowerShell skills. Familiarity withC# and object-oriented programming (OOP).ORM Optimization: Expert in tuning queries generated from ORMs (Entity Framework, Dapper, etc.).
The Data Stack: Hands-on experience withSnowflake (packaging/testing) andDynamoDB.
Familiarity with OpenSearch, Redis and DynamoDB.
Education: B.S./M.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent direct work experience.

Compensation Information: $161,000 - 185,000 The base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. The total compensation package for this position will be determined by each individual’s location, qualifications, education, work experience, skills and performance. We believe in the importance of pay equity - the range listed is just one component of Filevine’s total compensation package for employees. This position is also eligible for a paid time off policy, as well as a comprehensive benefits package.
