Who We Are:

The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the health and well-being of all New Yorkers.  To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City.

About the Program:

The program focuses on integrated school- and community-based strategies that advance chronic disease prevention, physical activity, nutrition access, and health equity. This position will report to the Sr. Director of Engagement & Capacity Building.

About The Role:

The Program and Data Manager is the senior programmatic and operational lead for the Harlem Bureau of Neighborhood Health’s Creating Healthy Schools & Communities program, a New York State Department of Health funded initiative.The Program and Data Manager plays a critical role in operationalizing grant goals into sustainable, community-centered activities aligned with the Harlem BNH’s priorities, cross-bureau initiatives, and community residents and partnerships.

Responsibilities:

Systems Building & Data Management:

• Oversee data collection, monitoring, and reporting for programmatic, community engagement, and evaluation activities
• Identify and disseminate best practices
• Utilize Public Health Partners Connect and other Harlem Bureau data systems to track participation, partnerships, and outcomes.
• Integrate CHSC data with broader Harlem Bureau reporting systems
• Prepare reports, dashboards and presentations for internal teams, funders and external partners
• Presenting neighborhood health data to partners to inform shared strategies and collective action
• Other duties as assigned are to support the overall goals and mission of the department/ organization.

Community & School Partnership Development

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with schools, community-based organizations, city and state agencies, and local community leaders.
• Build and support coalitions to leverage resources, strengthen coordination, and increase program sustainability
• Provide training and technical assistance to partners implementing CHSC-aligned activities

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Public health
• 2-3 years of experience managing complex, community-based public health programs
• 2-3 years of experience with grant management, budgeting and contract oversight
• 2-3 years of experience with schools and community-based partners

Preferred Skills: 

• Strong background in health equity, chronic disease prevention, and community wellness
• Strong data analytics, reporting and presentation skills
• Active collaborator with varied audiences
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong coordination and organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple priorities
  Detail oriented; able to manage projects and work independently
• Good time management for planning and decision making
  Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and excellent customer-service skills
  Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
