  1. PURPOSE:
  • The purpose of thisJOB DESCRIPTION is to establish and define the Purpose, Reporting Relationships, Job Requirements, Working Conditions, Duties, and Measures of Performance of theQuality Control Inspectorfor Frederick’s Machine and Tool Shop, Inc.

 

  1. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
  • The Quality Control Inspector reports to the Quality Control Inspection Supervisor or the Quality Control Operations Supervisor in your direct supervisor’s absence.

 

  1. JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education:High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience:Two or more years experience as Quality Control Inspector of an equivalent Oil Field Machine Shop, Job Shop and/or Heavy Fabrication operation with a minimum of $2,000,000 in annual sales and having 20 or more employees.
  • Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:Able to completely fill out our employment application without assistance from the office staff. Good comprehension and ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing during the interview. Good organization skills, math skills and attention to detail.
  •  Physical:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this Quality Control Inspector.
    • Body Position:Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
    • Body Movements:Must have full range of body movements including the hands and finger dexterity. Walking, standing, bending, crouching, reaching and climbing stairs are required.
    • Body Senses:Must have four of five senses, (taste excluded), with sight correctable to be able to satisfy specific vision abilities to include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. These vision requirements must be sufficient to shift in focus from computer screens, to instrument readings, to close paper forms.
    • Strength:Ability to lift 45 pounds with regularity  

 

  1. WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Working both indoors and outdoors with variable temperature and weather conditions. Hot, Cold, Humid, Dry, Loud or Quiet conditions may exist. When called out after hours by the duty supervisor you must respond as the situation demands.

 

  1. AUTHORITY
    • P.O. Limits – over this limit requires your supervisor’s approval & signature on the P.O.
      • Outside Services = $1,000

 

 

 

  1. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The responsibilities of, but not necessarily limited to, the Quality Control Inspector are:
    • Must be on time and in Quality Control Inspector when your workday begins and working until the 10 minute horn at the end of the day.
    • After punching in check with the appropriate supervisor to see if any special work needs to be accomplished. You may be permanently assigned to a division but you are ultimately a QC Inspector in the QC Department.
    • Communicate to the supervisor all non conformities. The final decision to scrap a part must be made at the appropriate supervisory level.
    • All tools, measuring instruments, and measuring equipment need to be kept in perfect working order and must be calibrated against a standard. If you have any reason to believe that any of the above mentioned measuring devices is out of tolerance, stop what you are doing and inform your supervisor immediately.
    • You are responsible for tracking Outside Service PO’s to be sure the parts get back from the service company and the cost gets on the job.
    • You are responsible for knowing the customer specifications or knowing where to find the customer specifications and the correct marking of items to be shipped and to ensure all required documents are shipped with the part as well as satisfy the general requirements of packaging and shipping responsibilities including, but not limited to, palletizing, banding, wrapping, protecting and loading parts ready for shipment.
    • You are responsible for stenciling parts as specified.
    • You are responsible for knowing where our QC Manual is kept and the sections that deal with aspects of your job. You must be able to answer auditor’s questions as to procedure and specifications for all our customers. If you have any questions at any time ask your supervisor.
    • You are responsible for knowing API and ISO specifications for all departments, or have knowledge as to where to find the answers if you don’t know.
    • All delivery tickets must be completed and the packet sent to the respective supervisor as soon as completed so we can begin the pricing and billing cycle.
    • All sequences on the router need to have an initial by the person completing that section. Any sequences not initialed needs to be brought to the attention of the appropriate supervisor for action.
    • We allow a 15 minute break time for all employees beginning at 8:45am and 3:00pm daily. These breaks are not to be abused and you are expected to be at your work station at the end of the break period. The breaks and lunch are to be taken in the designated areas. Un authorized employees are not allowed in the office area or on the office computers at any time
    • Supervisor has the authority to add to this duties list, at any time, to accommodate any emergency or unusual situation, to satisfy our customer

 

 

 

  1. MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE
  • The Quality Control Inspector  of Frederick’s Machine and Tool Shop, Inc. shall be deemed to be performing in an acceptable manner when the following have been accomplished:
    • Performs all of the Requirements listed above, in a timely manner.
