About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and motivatedSafety Specialist to join our Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team. This role is responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, and maintenance of safety initiatives within an assigned region as well as company-wide programs. The Safety Specialist will work closely with field technicians, operational leaders, and management to strengthen our safety culture, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and support continuous improvement efforts.

This is a highly visible role that requires regular interaction with employees in the field, conducting jobsite inspections, delivering training, and providing technical safety support. The ideal candidate is passionate about workplace safety, enjoys building relationships, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Leadership & Culture

• Promote and cultivate a strong safety culture within assigned districts and regions.
• Partner directly with technicians, supervisors, and leaders to positively influence safe work behaviors and decision-making.
• Serve as a trusted resource for safety-related questions, concerns, and compliance issues.

Compliance & Program Administration

• Support and complete customer safety prequalification requirements and related documentation.
• Administer and monitor safety compliance training programs to ensure organizational and regulatory requirements are met.
• Assist with the preparation, maintenance, and accuracy of safety records and EHS systems, including:
  • OSHA 300 and 300A logs
  • Online safety databases
  • Incident investigation files
  • Inspection documentation

Training & Development

• Coordinate and facilitate safety training programs, including:
  • OSHA-related training
  • Lift certifications
  • Confined space training
  • Fall protection training
• Conduct safety meetings and support ongoing employee safety education initiatives.

Field Safety Support

• Perform jobsite inspections, audits, and evaluations to identify hazards and opportunities for improvement.
• Support the development and documentation of:
  • Pre-Job Safety Surveys
  • Safety Audits
  • Root Cause Analyses
  • Corrective Action Plans
• Provide technical guidance and recommendations to operations teams regarding safe work practices.

Additional Duties

• Support special projects and company-wide EHS initiatives as assigned.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years of safety experience in construction, skilled trades, or a related industry where safety was a primary responsibility.
• OSHA 30-Hour Certification (Construction and/or General Industry).
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and reporting requirements.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and complete projects in a timely manner.
• Demonstrated reliability in attendance, professionalism, and quality of work.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record for positions requiring driving.

Travel Requirements

• Ability to travel regionally up to 50% of the time.
• Occasional travel outside of the assigned region may be required.
• Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of a major airport.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• CHST, OHST, CSP, or equivalent safety certification, or the ability to obtain certification within six months of hire.
• Authorized OSHA Outreach Trainer.
• Previous experience in fire protection installation, service, or other construction trades.
