We're looking for anApprentice Health and Wellbeing Coach to join our Prisons and Criminal Justice Care Navigation team in the North East.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine work-based learning with aLevel 2 Diploma delivered by Lifetime Training, developing the knowledge, skills and experience needed to support people leaving prison to reconnect with healthcare services, improve their wellbeing and successfully reintegrate into their communities.

Working alongside experienced Care Navigators and Health and Wellbeing Coaches, you'll help provide person-centred support to individuals before and after release from custody, helping reduce health inequalities, improve outcomes and support a smoother transition back into community life.

What you'll be doing

As an Apprentice Health and Wellbeing Coach, you will:

• Support people leaving prison to access health and wellbeing services in the community.
• Assist with assessments, care planning and wellbeing support activities.
• Work with a range of partner agencies to help individuals achieve their personal goals.
• Support health promotion activities and community-based events.
• Maintain accurate and professional records using organisational systems.
• Develop coaching skills that empower people to manage their own health and wellbeing.
• Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, criminal justice partners and community organisations.
• Balance your apprenticeship studies with practical experience in a supportive team environment.

Essential criteria

We're looking for someone who is:

• Passionate about supporting vulnerable people and making a difference.
• Motivated to learn and develop through an apprenticeship programme.
• Educated to Level 2 in English and Maths (or equivalent).
• A confident communicator with good interpersonal skills.
• Able to manage their time effectively and meet deadlines.
• Respectful, non-judgemental and committed to person-centred support.
• Comfortable using IT systems, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Able to build positive professional relationships with a wide range of people.

We would particularly welcome applications from people with an interest in mental health, criminal justice, health and social care, coaching or community support services.

Experience of working with people affected by the criminal justice system or lived experience of the criminal justice system is essential. 

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes with business insurance) is desirable, or a willingness to work towards this.
