Custodian

The Parks and Attractions Custodian is instrumental in the seamless functioning of our Parks & Attractions. They are entrusted with the responsibility of upholding impeccable cleanliness and maintaining elevated sanitation standards. This dedication ensures a secure and delightful experience for our valued guests.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conducting routine walkthroughs of assigned areas, including eating areas, washrooms, rides, slides, and office spaces to monitor and ensure cleanliness and taking proactive measures to address any cleanliness issues promptly.
• Performing thorough cleaning and sanitization tasks in all functional areas including wiping down surfaces, dusting, sweeping, mopping, pressure washing, scrubbing, and sanitizing surfaces, to maintain a pristine appearance and to uphold hygiene standards.
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the custodian’s work areas including the cleaning and water rooms, ensuring that cleaning supplies are properly stocked, and equipment is in good working condition for efficient operations.
• Following directions given by supervisors and managers, utilizing department-specific checklists to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely and thorough manner. Seeking clarification when needed and maintaining effective communication with other team members.
• Responding to guests’ general inquiries and directing them to the appropriate personnel.
• Aiding other departments within West Edmonton Mall as needed.
• Handling the cleaning of any biological spills within the Parks & Attractions.
• Other duties as required.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic.
• Knowledge of WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) and proficiency in handling Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Demonstrated experience in performing various cleaning tasks.
• Ability to work independently and proactively take initiative.
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods.
• Comfort working in a warm and humid environment, particularly in proximity to chlorine.
• Capable of accurately and efficiently following instructions.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• This is a part-time position that requires flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
