Take client management off the founders' plates for an SEO/AI search agency.Ā

We'reMADX Digital, a digital marketing agency delivering SEO and AI search services for SaaS, fintech, crypto and broader technology companies.Ā 

After five years of strong growth - taking the team up to 30 people - we hit a rough patch. Higher interest rates caused a wave of churn across the SaaS sector, forcing us to downsize and rebuild from a skeleton crew. That's behind us now. We're profitable again, signing long-term contracts, and our pipeline is healthy.

My co-founder Perry and I run a hybrid delivery model that blends an internal team with specialist partners for each pillar, supported by AI tools we've built in-house to turn client inputs into consistent outputs. Right now, the bottleneck is us. Client management keeps landing back on our desks, and while our existing account executives are excellent at executing SOPs, they struggle when the conversation moves into grey areas - and those grey area questions are surging as clients try to navigate the noisy AI search landscape.Ā 

That's why we're hiring.Ā 

We want to free ourselves up to focus on sales and growing the business, and we need someone who can make judgement calls and own client relationships end-to-end.We're looking for an SEO/AI Search Account Manager. You'll manage a portfolio of up to 10 clients, acting as the link between them and our delivery teams, translating requirements into briefs, reviewing outputs, and handling all the judgement calls that don't fit neatly into a checklist.

You'll need to understand SEO and AI search strategy well enough to hold your own with specialists and clients, work efficiently with AI tools day-to-day, and proactively unblock projects rather than waiting for approvals or answers.

In this role, you will:

šŸ“‹ Manage a portfolio of up to 10 clients end-to-end as their main point of contact

šŸ’» Be on client calls, gather requirements, and translate them into orders/briefs for the delivery teams

šŸ“Š Read through client questionnaires and onboarding data to understand the client and spot gaps

🧪 Feed inputs into the right delivery partner or into the company's internal AI app, then review outputs against client expectations

šŸ“ž Communicate deliverables, timelines, and results back to the client

šŸ’” Handle grey area requests - judge whether something is scope creep or a normal question, and make the call

šŸš€ Proactively manage blockers by finding small next steps to keep projects moving rather than just waiting

šŸ’» Leverage AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, internal apps) day-to-day to work efficiently

You'll work 35-40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, aligned to UK/EST timezone with a mix of fixed and flexible hours.

To be successful in this role, you need:

āœ… Strong spoken and written English

āœ… Solid client-facing relationship skills - able to handle difficult clients with emotional regulation

āœ… Agency experience - either as an account manager (3-5+ years) managing accounts, or strong technical/SEO background that can pick up account management

āœ… Ability to make judgement calls rather than only following a checklist/SOP

āœ… Comfortable leveraging AI tools in your workflow

āœ… Able to understand SEO/AI search strategy well enough to go toe-to-toe with SEO specialists and clients

Brownie points for:

⭐ Direct hands-on SEO or AI search (GEO) experience

⭐ Experience working with marketing agencies delivering SEO services

⭐ Ability to grow into an Account Director-type role managing clients fully end-to-end

The ideal candidate genuinely gives a damn about the quality of the work and client outcomes. Conscientiousness matters here - this isn't a box-ticking role. We're looking for someone who finds the next small step to unblock a stalled project rather than waiting for someone else to move.Ā 

When something doesn't make sense, ask. If a client needs pushing back on, do it. Emotional self-regulation is crucial because client pressure is real, and panic mode helps no one. You care about deliverables without needing to overwork, and your communication style is direct, not overly deferential.
