Job Description:

The Field Coordinator is responsible for all activities that occur or fail to occur with regard to projects or personnel assigned to his/her team/region. Works with VP of Construction, Field Teams, and Project Teams.

Some things you can expect to do:

  • Assist Director of Field Operations in hiring new staff members.

  • Train team members in proper estimating, scheduling, and construction management techniques.

  • Delegate the appropriate level of responsibility to team members and carefully monitor their progress.

  • Assist Director of Field Operations in employee evaluation process and make recommendations regarding compensation for team members.

  • Assist in terminating (layoff or firing) team members when appropriate. Termination issues will be discussed at Field Coordinator meetings. Any termination shall have the direct involvement and approval of the Sr Vice President of Field Operations and Director of Field Operations.

  • Monitor the workload of each team member to ensure that the entire team is working productively and efficiently.

  • Assure that each team member is aware of and participates in appropriate educational opportunities.

  • Assist Director of Field Operations in monitoring field operation “Action Plans”

  • Significant participation in presentations to prospective clients.

  • Participate in past and continuing client contact program.

  • Sell Ryan Companies US, Inc. to the public.

  • Assist project management/preconstruction in project proposal stage with scheduling, logistics and budgeting.

  • Assure that every project has someone assigned to it with “bottom line” responsibility for the project.

  • Review all estimates generated within the team for completeness and competitiveness.

  • Assure that all team members are using the appropriate “Ryan Tools” and that its use is consistent with the methods used throughout the construction department.

  • Assure team members maintain Ryan’s ethical standards and competitive bidding and management practices.

  • Assure that safety policies and procedures are implemented and enforced. Review audits of projects for leading indicators, field team observations and provide monthly feedback for Senior field leadership and safety personnel on each site.

  • Creates a first-class safety culture with a specific focus on mission-critical hazards, including Arc Flash hazards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures for energized work, hazardous utility tie-ins, and heavy rigging/material deliveries

  • Review safety audits of projects for leading indicators and field team observations and provide monthly feedback for senior field leadership and site safety personnel.

  • Review all schedules associated with work under control.  Coordinate with project team on Overall milestone deliveries, weekly updates and assist with recovery schedules as needed.  Comprehensive knowledge of CPM scheduling is necessary.

  • Achieve maximum profit on each project in a means that is consistent with Ryan’s long-term interests.

  • Assure that proper cost control techniques are used on all projects.

  • Assure that good communication and coordination occur between the Ryan office and field staff.

  • Assure that proper communication and documentation procedures are adhered to on all projects.

  • Assure all project meetings are held.

  • Assure that high quality and quantity of work is completed on schedule and on budget. Assure all quality management applications, meetings and inspections are being performed through random audits

  • Assure that projects are closed out properly and that punch list work is completed in a timely manner.

  • Assure that accounts payable and accounts receivable are kept current on all projects assigned to them.

  • Assist project team members in approval and monitoring of subcontractors.

  • Minimize warranty issues through good reviews and management.

  • Further develop and train subordinates on new and existing computer programs.

  • Stay current on regional union issues and assist RFC with review and approval of project labor agreements.

  • Communicate company policies and procedures to team members on a regular basis.

  • Encourage new ideas from team members and communicate them to the Sr Vice President of Field Operations and Director of Field Operations

  • Provide periodic and relevant information for the “Greenway” or any other appropriate means of communication.

  • Actively participate in periodic Field Manager/ Field Coordinator meetings and support decisions made at these meetings.  

  • Work on special projects pertaining to the Sector.

  • Exhibit leadership qualities by setting a good example of the type of behavior that is expected from all Ryan employees.

  • Assist the Director of Field Operations in project and personnel assignments and workload monitoring.

  • Remain current with new developments in the construction industry in general and communicate them to team members.

  • Thorough knowledge of every aspect of building projects.

  • Mentor and train employees for personal and professional growth.  Focused efforts on Leadership skills, scheduling, quality control, client relations and Safety.

To be successful in this role

  • Experience 5–10 years of successful experience as a Senior Superintendent, with a proven track record of delivering high-complexity, high-reliability projects (e.g., data centers, advanced technology facilities, healthcare central utility plants, or cleanrooms).

  • Direct experience overseeing complex, fast-track MEP installations, high-voltage electrical distribution, central cooling infrastructure, and Level 1–5 commissioning (Cx) processes.

  • Technical Knowledge Thorough, expert-level knowledge of every physical and logistical aspect of       building projects.

  • Deep understanding of building automation systems (BAS), critical power/cooling redundancy (UPS, generators, chillers), and life safety controls.

  • Skills & Abilities:

  • Exceptional ability to supervise, motivate, and communicate effectively with large, diverse field teams and specialized subcontractors.

  • Strong professional sales ability, executive presence, and a high sensitivity to client operational needs.

  • Education & Training:

  • Completed all required Field Coordinator training programs (or equivalent industry certifications).

  • OSHA 30-Hour certification (or equivalent high-level safety training) is required.
