The Job in Short

As a Technical Manager, you are thetechnical leader of a strategic client account - or a portfolio of accounts - with end-to-end ownership of thetechnical success and qualityof our solution delivery. You work in close partnership with the Delivery Leader, ensuring that our clients not only go live successfully, but continue to thrive and scale with confidence.

You are ahands-on leader who drives solution design with architects, partners closely with engineering leaders and leads from the front when needed during complex technical challenges or critical incidents. You set the tone for engineering excellence, while ensuring the righttechnicalteamstructures and accountabilities are in place to deliver at scale.

Throughout the client journey, you are theprimary technical contact and trusted advisor, seamlessly navigating between technical deep dives and high-stakes conversations with CIOs and executives. You bring clarity, confidence, and commitment to every interaction whileshaping outcomes.

Meet the job

• Take fulltechnical ownership of the client account, acting as the technology leader across all workstreams.
• Use your technical and product expertise to define and drive ourclients’ technical strategy
• Become an internal advocate of the client and bring thevoice of the customer into the rest of the Backbase organization
• You identify opportunities for the customer to have betterproduct adoption, provide guidance on best practices for custom components, and help the client align their requirements with our R&D roadmap
• Collaborate closely with theTechnical Support, Product Engineering, and Project Implementation teams at Backbase to ensure successful implementations of the Backbase product.
• Partner with Delivery leaders to create delivery plans that balance time to market and quality needs.
• Ensure technical quality and compliance with platform best practices across all squads,raising the bar for engineering practices and delivery standards.
• Act as thetechnical face of Backbase towards the client’s senior stakeholders, from engineering teams to CIO-level conversations.
• Serve as arole model by being hands-on when needed - unblocking technical issues, supporting squads, and ensuring progress.
  
  

How about you

• Overall experience of 10+ years and 5 years of  management experience with solid technical background, including experience in software and systems architecture;
• You have ledenterprise-grade software delivery, preferably in financial services or regulated industries;
• You have experience with most of our technology stack: Java, Spring, Maven, Gradle, Angular, Kotlin, Cloud Deployments, Docker, Kubernetes (on-prem, cloud) and Swift. Having a cloud certification (e.g. Azure Certified Solutions Architect) is a plus;
• You thrive inhigh-stakes environments, leading from the front during escalations and aligning cross-functional teams under pressure.
• You have a deep understanding ofDevOps, CI/CD, Observability and SRE practices  and you ensure operational excellence is part of delivery.
• You haveexcellent communication and stakeholder management skills, equally comfortable with engineering teams and CXOs.
• You are passionate about buildingstrong engineering cultures, mentoring teams, and setting a high bar for engineering excellence.
• You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
• You are fluent in English
