Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands

We're looking for a Software Engineer to join our Identity & Verification team in Amsterdam. This team plays a critical role in ensuring the regulatory compliance of Adyen's diverse service offerings to protect Adyen and its customers. Team owns the foundational platforms and core services necessary toestablish and maintain a trusted identity for all customers throughout their lifecycle with Adyen. What you’ll do:

As a Software Engineer on the Identity & Verification Services team, you will have full ownership of the features you build, from initial design to deployment and live monitoring, acting as a problem-solver shaping a core part of Adyen's integrity platform.

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Design and build solutions for highly scalable and reliable distributed systems that are central to Adyen’s success.
• Develop and implement the technology, processes,Know Your Customer (KYC) data collection;and automated verification across the customer onboarding lifecycle.
• Contribute to the platform framework that manages the onboarding of legal entities and the integration of identity and verification capabilities.
• Influence the entire software development lifecycle, from contributing to architectural design and strategic implementation to assisting with testing and deployment.
• Takeend-to-end ownership, seeing your work through the development lifecycle.
• Uphold high standards for system health by implementingrobust monitoring, defining Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and creating effective alerting.
• Collaborate closely with your team, Product Managers, Customer Onboarding teams, Merchant Operations, and Regulatory teams to refine and implement your ideas.
• Develop and implement observability tools to proactively monitor system performance and deliver strategic solutions to enhance system reliability and efficiency.

Who you are:

• You have astrong foundation in Java, with experience building web services and REST APIs.
• You haveexperience in building and maintaining highly scalable and reliable distributed systems.
• You are comfortable withSQL/PostgreSQL and understand how to work with databases effectively.
• You embrace a culture of operational excellence and have a solid grasp ofmonitoring best practices, SLOs, and resilience patterns.
• You are someone who naturallytakes ownership, seeking the autonomy to drive your work forward.
• A strong collaborative spirit, with a history of driving technical discussions and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
• A strong interest in advanced software development and design patterns, with a focus on scalability and resilience.
• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent extensive practical experience.

• Experience with event-driven architecture and streaming is a plus.
• Experience with Cassandra, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Temporal.io and Big Data Platform is a plus.
