About the Team
ACCEL Schools is hiring a highly qualified School Nurse at Thompson School for Girls, Cleveland Primary Sports Academy and Cleveland Sports Academy in Cleveland, Ohio.The School Nurse is the primary health contact for all physical and mental health records and services.  All duties are carried out with the utmost regard for privacy and in full compliance with federal, state, and local law.  Â

About the Opportunity:
Responsibilities and qualities of the School Nurse include to-Â
- Promote and protect student healthÂ
- Plan and implement school health management protocolsÂ
- Initiate referrals to parents, school personnel or community health resourcesÂ
- for intervention, remediation and follow throughÂ
- Ensure student health records are maintained in a thorough, timely and compliant mannerÂ
- Provide basic healthcare to students in case of injury or acute illnessÂ
- Create and maintain log of visits to the school’s health clinicÂ
- Contact parents and guardians to notify them of a child’s illnessÂ
- Maintain student medications in a safe and compliant mannerÂ
- Communicate with parents and guardians to ensure adequate supply of student medications are availableÂ
- Procure and maintain health clinic suppliesÂ
- Maintain an inventory of spare clothing and student uniforms for emergency purposesÂ
- Schedule annual vision and hearing exams for eligible studentsÂ
- Schedule biannual preventative and restorative dental exams for eligible studentsÂ
- Develop and maintain health service partnerships such as School-Based Asthma Therapy (SBAT), Children’s Hospital Diabetes, and mobile health for homebound studentsÂ
- Develop and maintain partnerships and resources to support to pregnant studentsÂ
- Develop and deliver student health and wellness professional development to the school communityÂ
- Conduct home visits as neededÂ
- Stay abreast of changing school nurse practices.Â
- Perform other duties as assignedÂ
About You:Â
- Licensed Practical NurseÂ
- Fluency with State and local laws relating to health and social issuesÂ
- Experience working with children including teenagersÂ
- Experience working in an education setting is a plusÂ
- Knowledge of school nurse practicesÂ
- Proficiency in using multiple office and database programs including Microsoft products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)Â
- Strong attention to detailÂ
- High-quality written and verbal communication skillsÂ
- Understanding and ability to manage confidential informationÂ
- Availability and willingness to work occasional nights or weekendsÂ
- Ability to pass federal, state, and local background checks, as required by state.Â

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $55,000 - 70,000. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
