Position Summary Â
JFCS is committed toassisting refugeefamilies so they are on the path to building economic and family self-sufficiency. Â
Â
We are seeking a Refugee Employment specialist tohelp on our team. The Refugee Employment Specialist willassist adult refugees, within their first five years in the U.S., find jobs within designated timelines. The Employment Specialist will alsoassist job-seeking clients and their families with case management or other related duties.  Â

Duties and ResponsibilitiesÂ
Pre-employment Activities:Â
Â
-Assess employment needs of clientsÂ
-Create/implement individualized job plan,budget and resume with each clientÂ
-Provide job counseling (managing expectations), jobsearch and job developmentassistance to clientsÂ
-Communicatefrequently with refugee team about client progressÂ
-Assist in new employer developmentÂ
-Contact employers on behalf of clientsÂ
-Plan, develop curriculum, organize, coordinate, and leads job-related workshops for clientsÂ

Job Placement Activities:Â
-Assist clients with job applications and follow-up as neededÂ
-Attend and/organize job fair events with or on behalf of clientsÂ
-Prepare clients for interviews, ensures transportation to interview and provides post-interview communicationÂ
-Upon hire,assist with pre-hire requirements, transportationplanning and onboardingÂ
Â
Post-employment Activities:Â
-Follow up with employed clients according to required schedule and program requirementsÂ
-Act as liaison with employers, available to trouble-shoot problems, especially as they relate to cross-cultural issuesÂ
-Assist clients with upgrading to better paying/career-oriented jobs as allowed by program prioritiesÂ
Â
Other Activities:Â
-Provide case management to job seeker or his/her family as part of family self-sufficiency planÂ
-Maintainaccurate written and electronic recordsin accordance with funding and agency requirementsÂ
-Prepare case notes on all contacts with or on behalf of clients as soon as possibleÂ
-Participate in departmental staff and planning meetingsÂ
-Attend employment meetings and refugee resettlement conferences as needed, local,regional and nationalÂ
-Participate in staff development and training opportunities provided by JFCSÂ
-Assume other responsibilities as assigned related to refugee services and JFCS employees in general.Â
QualificationsÂ
-Experience working with refugee/immigrant populations and a general understanding of workforceÂ
-Team player; ability to communicate with case workers, interpreters, employersÂ
-Excellent organizational skillsÂ
-Experience in providing direct client servicesÂ
-Ability to promote program to employersÂ
-Bachelor’s Degree or relevant life experienceÂ
-Fluency in a non-English language ispreferred, but notrequired. Current high need languages include Arabic, Nepali,Swahili and DariÂ
-A valid PA driver’s license and access to a vehicleÂ
