Maintenance-Groundskeeping Parish & School (NE)(2026-2027)

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish & School, a collaborative campus in Essex, Maryland, serving both our Catholic faith community and a PreK-12 coeducational Catholic school, is seeking applicants for the position ofMaintenance-Groundskeeper Worker. This part-time, 10-month-per-year position is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance, cleanliness, and functionality of the property under the supervision and guidance of the Building Superintendent.

This role includes outdoor landscaping duties, athletic field preparation, routine building upkeep, and support tasks such as package handling and delivery. This position is open to individuals with minimal or no experience who demonstrate a willingness to learn.

Essential Functions

• Cut and maintain grass, including mowing, trimming, and edging lawns and athletic fields.
• Line and prepare sports fields for games and practices (e.g., football, baseball, and soccer).
• Perform general landscaping duties, including leaf removal, planting, and debris cleanup.
• Deliver packages and materials to designated areas throughout the property.
• Conduct minor building maintenance and repairs, such as changing light bulbs, performing basic repairs, and maintaining common areas.
• Maintain the cleanliness of both indoor and outdoor spaces, including walkways, entrances, and shared areas.
• Assist the Athletic Department with field setup, breakdown, and event preparation.
• Support game-day operations as needed, including equipment setup and field inspections.
• Report maintenance issues and safety concerns to management.
• Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow removal and storm cleanup, as needed.
• Maintain periodic on-call availability for after-hours emergencies.

Position Qualifications

• Previous groundskeeping and/or maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to operate landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and field-lining equipment.
• Basic knowledge of athletic field preparation is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move at least 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods, as well as safely use a ladder.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Possession of a valid driver's license with fewer than three (3) points.
• Full adherence to compliance policies designed to protect the safety and well-being of minors entrusted to our care.

Pay Range:  $18.00 - $20.00, Hourly
