Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant - as-needed

About the Role

Meritus Health is seeking a compassionate and skilledCertified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our Total Rehab Care team. Under the direction and supervision of an Occupational Therapist (OTR), you will provide treatment and follow-up care to patients of all ages—from newborns to older adults—helping them achieve their highest level of function.

As a key member of the rehab team, you’ll collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care and deliver outstanding therapy services.

What You’ll Do

• Deliver direct patient care according to the therapist’s plan of care, including treatment interventions, caregiver training, equipment use, and referrals.

• Monitor patient progress, document outcomes, and contribute to discharge planning.

• Support patients and families by providing education, motivation, and encouragement.

• Collaborate with rehab team members and participate in team and case conferences.

• Provide supervision and mentorship to aides, students, observers, and volunteers.

What We’re Looking For

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program with an Associate of Arts degree.

• Licensure: Maryland Occupational Therapy Assistant license (or temporary license pending board exam/reciprocity).

• Certification: Current BLS certification (not required for Behavioral Health).

• Strong clinical skills, responsibility, and dedication to patient care.

• Ability to motivate, encourage, and support patients throughout their rehabilitation journey.
