We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicatedMedical Laboratory Technician (MLT), ASCP to join our Laboratory Services team. In this role, you will perform laboratory testing and procedures that support high-quality patient care while ensuring compliance with established laboratory, regulatory, and safety standards. This position offers the opportunity to work across all phases of laboratory operations, including specimen processing, testing, quality assurance, and result reporting.

Position Summary

The Medical Laboratory Technician performs laboratory procedures accurately and efficiently according to established policies and procedures. The MLT supports the pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases of laboratory workflow and contributes to maintaining quality, safety, and regulatory compliance standards. The position may also assist with workflow coordination in the absence of a supervisor or lead technologist.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform authorized moderate and high-complexity laboratory testing within the scope of education, training, and certification.

• Process specimens and conduct testing according to established protocols.

• Accurately record and report patient test results.

• Perform quality control procedures and maintain documentation of quality activities.

• Conduct instrument calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

• Identify testing issues and take appropriate corrective action or escalate concerns as needed.

• Maintain compliance with laboratory regulations, policies, and accreditation requirements.

• Participate in proficiency testing and ensure testing standards are consistently met.

• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and accuracy.

• Communicate effectively with laboratory staff, providers, and other healthcare professionals.

• Work independently while maintaining productivity and accuracy.

• Follow all laboratory safety guidelines and infection prevention protocols.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Associate's degree and successful completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program;OR

• Associate's degree in a laboratory-related science such as Biology or Chemistry with equivalent laboratory training, education, or experience.

Experience

• Six months of clinical laboratory experience required.

• Clinical laboratory experience obtained through an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program may satisfy this requirement.

Certification

• ASCP certification required, or

• Equivalent nationally recognized Medical Laboratory Technician certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of laboratory equipment including microscopes, centrifuges, analyzers, and laboratory information systems.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Basic computer proficiency.

• Ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
