WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Work on board brand new company vessels Scarlet Lady, Valiant Lady, Resilient Lady (ship #4 will happen later on!)
  • Be a part of special Virgin Voyageā€™s lifestyle and philosophy and grow togetherĀ 
  • Contract length - 4-6 months for most positions, for entry positions - 7 months
  • Free food, accommodation, coffee + soft drinks and also wifi (though limited speed) for crew
  • The employer is going to provide or reimburse expenses for the following:Ā Ā 
    - STCW certification
    - Joining tickets
    - Pre-Employment Medical Examination (PEME)
    - Necessary Visas
    - Joining expenses, such as transfers, hotel accommodations, subsistence

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide an epic experience for our guests at all times
  • Ā Maintains a complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-Ā alcoholic selections available in the assigned outlet
  • Ā Maintains a complete knowledge of designated glassware and garnishes for each drink
  • Ā Maintains a complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, proper table set ups,Ā room capacity, hours of operation, menus, price range and dress code of assigned outlet
  • Competently and with style open and serve wine/champagne bottles
  • Ā Interact with Sailors and provide beverage information, promoting drinks and/or upsellingĀ premium brands. They will also suggest alternative cocktails that arenā€™t visible on theĀ menu
  • Ensure that all bar products, equipment and cleaning materials are used in a cost-Ā effective manner
  • Ā Inspect cleanliness and condition of assigned station and service areas; rectify anyĀ deficiencies
  • Ā Ensures that Sailor orders are correctly entered into the system and monitors tab for anyĀ corrections necessary
  • Carries out clear down routines after service and ensures the appearance and conditionĀ of all items including glasses and bottles meet Virgin Voyages standards
  • Notifies Bar Supervisor of any complaints raised and seeks to resolve
  • Ā Be familiar with all cruise services/features and activations to respond to Sailor inquiriesĀ accurately
  • Ā Ensures compliance with the Company alcohol policy and notifies Bar Supervisor whenĀ Sailors/Crew are in danger of breaching

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 21 years old
  • Minimum 2 yearsā€™ recent experience as Bar Server (Bar Waiter/ess)Ā onboard a Premium ClassĀ Cruise Ship or 4-5 Star Hotel/Resort.
  • Passionate about people and able to handle complaints with a smile and full attention!
  • All certificates as required by the STCW code for this position.
  • Knowledge of various drink recipes and beverage service standards.
  • Strong written & verbal skills
