Job Description

Teledyne DGO is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Welder to support fabrication, assembly, tooling, and manufacturing operations in a high-precision environment. This position is responsible for performing TIG welding, brazing, soldering, fitting, assembly, and related manufacturing activities while ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, quality requirements,andsafetystandards.Theidealcandidatewillpossessstrongweldingandfabricationskills,mechanicalaptitude,blueprintreadingcapabilities,andexperienceworkinginaregulatedmanufacturingenvironment.

EssentialDutiesandResponsibilities

• Read,interpret,andworkfromblueprints,engineeringdrawings,workinstructions,weldsymbols,andspecifications.

• Reviewandverifydimensionsandtolerancesondrawingstodeterminepropersetupmethodsandworkoperationsequences.

• Layout,position,align,andsecurepartsandassembliesusingrulers,straightedges,calipers,combinationsquares,fixtures,andtemplates.

• Preparecomponentsforweldingbycleaning,grinding,cutting,deburring,fitting,andassemblingparts.

• PerformTIGwelding,brazing,soldering,andotherapprovedweldingprocessesonstainlesssteel,nickelalloys,aluminum,andotherspecialtymaterials.

• Weldcomponentsinflat,horizontal,vertical,andoverheadpositionsasrequired.

• Clamp,hold,tackweld,heatbend,grind,orboltcomponentstoobtainrequiredconfigurationsandpositionsforwelding.

• Operatemanualandsemi-automaticweldingequipmentinaccordancewithapprovedweldingprocedures.

• Recognize,setup,andoperatehandtools,powertools,grinders,cuttingequipment,fixtures,andfabricationequipmentcommonlyusedintheweldingtrade.

• Monitorfitting,burning,andweldingprocessestominimizedistortion,shrinkage,warping,oroverheatingofmaterials.

• Examinecompletedweldmentsandassembliesfordefectsandcompliancewithqualitystandards.

• Utilizeprecisionmeasuringequipmenttoverifyconformanceofcompletedworktospecifications.

• Select,align,andsecurefixtures,tooling,materials,andequipmentnecessarytoperformrequiredoperations.

• Fabricateweldments,specialfixtures,tooling,productionaids,andcustomassembliesasrequired.

• Assistinthemanufacture,modification,andrepairofjigs,fixtures,gauges,machinetools,dies,andproductiontoolingusedinmanufacturingoperations.

• Detectfaultyoperationofequipment,tooling,ormaterialsandpromptlynotifysupervisionofconcerns.

• Identifyandcorrectminorequipmentmalfunctionsandperformroutineequipmentadjustmentsasauthorized.

• Adjustmachineandequipmentsettingsasrequiredtoensureproductqualityandadherencetospecifications.

• Verifythatallworkcomplieswithengineering,workmanship,quality,andcustomerrequirements.

• Completerequiredproduction,quality,andtraceabilitydocumentationaccuratelyandtimely.

• Conferwithsupervisors,productionpersonnel,manufacturingengineers,qualitypersonnel,andprogrammerstoresolvefabricationorassemblyissues.

• Maintainweldingcertificationsandqualificationsrequiredforassignedwork.

• Supportcontinuousimprovement,safetyinitiatives,cost-reductionefforts,andleanmanufacturingactivities.

• Maintainaclean,organized,andsafeworkenvironment.

Qualifications

EducationandExperience

• HighSchoolDiplomaorGEDrequired.

• CertifiedTIGWelderpreferred.

• Minimum5yearsofweldingandfabricationexperienceinamanufacturingenvironment.

• Experiencewithstainlesssteel,aluminum,nickelalloys,orotherspecialtymetalspreferred.

• Brazingandsolderingexperiencepreferred.

• Experiencewithtooling,fixturefabrication,andmechanicalassemblyishighlydesirable.

• Experienceworkinginaerospace,defense,precisionmanufacturing,orotherhighlyregulatedindustriespreferred.

RequiredKnowledge,Skills,andAbilities

• Strongblueprintreadingandinterpretationskills.

• Abilitytoreadandunderstandweldsymbolsandengineeringdrawings.

• Proficiencyusingmachinistmeasuringtoolsincludingcalipers,micrometers,heightgauges,andprecisionmeasuringinstruments.

• Workingknowledgeofweldingprocesses,fabricationtechniques,andmetalworkingpractices.

• Abilitytoinspectownworkandverifycompliancewithdimensionalandqualityrequirements.

• Mechanicalaptitudeandstrongtroubleshootingskills.

• Basiccomputerskillsrequired.

• WorkingknowledgeofISO9001,AS9100,NAVSEA,AWS,orsimilarqualitysystemspreferred.

• Strongattentiontodetailandcommitmenttoworkmanshipexcellence.

• Abilitytoworkindependentlyandeffectivelywithinateamenvironment.

• Mustbeabletoobtainandmaintainanyrequiredweldingqualificationsandcertifications.

• U.S.CitizenrequiredduetoaccesstoITAR-controlledtechnicaldataandexport-controlledinformation.

• Abilitytofrequentlystand,bend,lift,reach,andperformphysicalproductionactivitiesthroughouttheshift.
