QUALITY CONTROL (QC) INSPECTOR (M/F)

from 🇬🇦 Gabon

IOTA Group, specialises in technical assistance and the provision of qualified personnel to Oil & Gas operators. On behalf of one of our clients, an engineering company acting as owner's engineer / PMC (Project Management Consultancy), we are looking for a Quality Control Inspector

Project Background

The project involves the development of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) storage and transfer infrastructure in a major-hazard industrial environment, classified as an Upper-Tier SEVESO III / ICPE establishment, located in Libreville, Gabon. Our client monitors and verifies the works performed by the contractor (vessel fabrication and erection, piping, civil works, coatings) as part of its owner's engineer role.

Main Responsibilities

  • Inspect and verify the contractor's work: LPG vessel fabrication and field erection, piping, structural / civil works, coatings;
  • Verify compliance with the contracted codes (ASME VIII Div. 1/2, ASME B31.4, ASME IX, EEMUA 190) and the project ITPs;
  • Review and verify WPS / PQR / WPQ, material certificates (EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2) and ITPs against the specification;
  • Follow hold points and third-party inspection interventions;
  • Act within the owner's-engineer monitoring and verification role.

Essential Qualifications

  • Formal welding inspection qualification, current and unexpired: CSWIP 3.1 or AWS CWI (or equivalent);
  • NDT qualification to ASNT SNT-TC-1A or ISO 9712 Level II, specifically including RT (radiography) interpretation — essential given the contract's 100% RT requirement; PT / MT alone is not sufficient;
  • Working knowledge of ASME Section V (NDE), Section VIII (pressure vessels) and Section IX (welding qualification);
  • Coating inspection qualification: NACE / AMPP CIP or FROSIO — the vessels are earth-covered and the coating is the primary long-term corrosion barrier.

Desirable Assets

  • Prior QC experience specifically on ASME VIII pressure vessels (not only piping or structural steel); LPG / hydrocarbon storage tank experience is a strong plus;
  • Experience with field-erected vessels: site welding, site NDT, site hydrotest;
  • Pipeline QC experience relevant to ASME B31.4 (liquid pipelines);
  • Familiarity with buried / mounded vessel coating systems (cathodic disbondment resistance, holiday / spark detection);
  • Bilingual French / English;
  • Experience on a SEVESO / major-hazard site, with a sound understanding of hold points and third-party inspection regimes.

Localisation Libreville, Gabon.

10 months duration.

6 days per week.
