Interventional Vascular Technologists arespecialized Interventional Radiologists that support the mostcutting-edge therapies offered at Cleveland Clinic.In this role,you will 

assist physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided vascular procedures, including angioplasty,stenting and thrombolysis. You will use fluoroscopic equipment to capture images ofblood vessels. By doing so, you will be able to interveneon a patient's potential heart blockages that could cause a heart attack, leading to saving theirlives.Taking on this opportunity will not onlyallow you to advance yourskills but can also lead to cross-training in Electrophysiology andadditional educational training. 

A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM – 5:30PM or 7:30AM – 6:00PM, with on-call requirements. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Utilize sterile or aseptictechniques to scrub in and perform vascular,interventional and surgical procedures per protocol. 

• Educate patientsregarding procedures,equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation. 

• Ensure patients safety and comfort during and after exams. 

• Demonstrate understanding of primary purpose of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast druginteractions and major effects. 

• Sets-up oroperateinjector to administer contrast agents for procedures and manually inject contrast agent if no pressure injector isutilized. 

• Operate ancillary equipment adherent to specific procedures. 

• Check and preparepatients prior toVascular-Interventional study. 

• Screen patients for ability to undergoprocedure by understanding baseline lab requirements. 

• Position patients to obtain radiographic exposure. 

• Acquire, archive,transmit andprint images via PACS. 

• Completeafter-hours transmission of images andappropriate paperwork. 

• Report malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator. 

• Process billing via RIS. 

• Record andmaintain procedural data to include injection data, elapsed fluoroscopictime and procedural information. 

• Monitor equipment, systems, clean equipment,and effectstimely repair. 

• Learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Graduate of an accredited school ofRadiologicTechnology 

• Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic TechnologistsR.T.(R) (ARRT)and in good standing 

• Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist 

• Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross   

• Knowledge of radiologic physics and computerized vascular equipment to safely inject and image human vascular anatomy  

• Knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology sufficient to apply to interventional and diagnostic exams  

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• One year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist 

• Certification inCardiovascular-InterventionalRadiographyR.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT)or Vascular-InterventionalRadiology R.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT) 

• Experience in high volume angiography department 

Physical Requirements:

• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

• Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
