God has called InterVarsity to plant and to build witnessing communities of students and faculty who follow Jesus on college and university campuses. Through these groups, we believe ever- increasing numbers of students and faculty from all ethnic groups and areas of the campus will be transformed by the Gospel. We pursue this calling by discerning and actively participating in what God is already doing on campus. This is the essence of being a Campus Staff Minister (CSM).

  • Under the direction of the Area Director, may supervise Ministry InternsandCampus Ministry Interns asdelegated

Youintentionallygather,invite,anddevelop diversegroupsof studentsandfacultysothattheynotonlyencounterandfollowJesusasSaviorandLordbutalsoadvancethemissiononcampusasparticipantsandleaders. 

  • Create waysforfacultyandstudentstoencounterandfollow JesusthroughScripture, worship, prayer, mission experiences, conferences,etc.

  • Equipstudentsand faculty so that theythink strategically about campus engagementand so thatthey proclaim– inword, deed,andpower– the good news ofJesus, regularly inviting studentsand faculty tofollow himas Savior and Lord

  • Disciple studentsandfacultybyequippingthem to hear the Word,respond actively,anddebriefandinterprettheexperienceso that they grow inChristlikeness, reflectourCore Values,anddevelop ministryskills

  • Invite, coach, and equip students and faculty to become increasingly effective participants and leaders, including starting new witnessing communities oncampuses

  • Usenational ministry resourcesandtools,asrequested, includingrecruiting and/orparticipatinginlocal, regional,ornational conferencesasrequired

  • Complete reporting,planningandreview requirementsinatimelyway so that you andyour supervisorscan assess andimprove yourwork as aCSM

  • Complywith allInterVarsity policiesandprocedures 

 

MinistryPartnership Development 

As aCampus Staff Minister,you willdevelopa teamof partners–churchesandindividuals (including alumniandcommunity members)– who willresourcetheministry financially,inprayer,orvolunteer servicethatadvancesthemission. 

  • Raise100%of thefinancialbudgetassignedbyyoursupervisor

  • Communicate regularlywith yourministry partners, nurturingtherelationshipthroughvisits, phone calls,emailsandregularprayerletters

  • Develop on-going, long-lasting partnershipwithalumniandvolunteers

  • Complywith allMinistry PartnershipPolicies

  • Identify andinvestinadvocateswhowill buildnetworksof volunteersanddonorsonInterVarsity’sbehalf 

 

Accomplish all other assigned tasks asappropriate 

 

QUALIFICATIONS (common to all levels of CSM) 

  • AnnuallyaffirmInterVarsity’s Statement of Agreement (Doctrinal BasisandPurpose Statement). AbidebyInterVarsity’s CodeofConduct. Believeandbehave consonantlywithInterVarsity’s Human Sexuality TheologicalPaper.Affirmandbehave consonantly with InterVarsity’s “Womenin MinistryStatementofAffirmation”

  • Bachelor’sdegreerequiredfor CSMsassignedto afour-year campus.Aminimum ofanAssociate’sdegreerequiredfor CSMsassignedto atwo-year campusor a community college

  • Strong interpersonal skills (including abilitytoministertodiverse ethnic communitiesandfaculty)

  • Excellent verbalandwritten communication skills

  • Demonstrated problemsolvingskills

  • Familiaritywith wordprocessing, presentation, email,andspreadsheetsoftware 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

The CSM position leads ministry in a college campus environment. A designated office space may or may not be available. The CSMis required to travel to on-campus and off- campus sites asappropriate. Off-campus travel includes, but is not limitedto: student ministry conferences, Ministry Partnership Development meetings, and InterVarsity- sponsored training sessions, meetings, and conferences. The CSMis regularly required to communicate with others, and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc. 

Pay Range: $40,476.00 - $53,952.00 per year

Pay:This position is funded through personal fundraising. Accordingly, compensation will vary based on the ability of the individual to secure a donor team to fund the cost of his/her salary. The anticipated salary range for this position on a full-time basis (40 hours/week) is dependent on a variety of factors, including location and cost of living. The actual salary received, including any geographic adjustment to account for location and cost of living, is subject to the individual’s ability to raise funds necessary to cover the full amount of such salary within the range set forth in the job posting details.
