Summary: We are seeking a Integrations Developer to design, build, and maintain the organization's web and mobile applications while serving as the primary developer for API and system-to-system integrations between internal IBM i (AS/400) applications and external vendor and partner platforms. This role builds and supports the operational side of the Web portfolio, ensures consistency of look and feel, and extends site and application functionality by connecting front-end and back-end systems through well-designed, secure interfaces.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Â
- Design, develop, code, test, and document Web applications and pages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP) that integrate with backend IBM i systems and databases.
- Design, build, and maintain REST/SOAP APIs and integration points between internal applications (DB2 for i, RPG/RPGLE-based systems) and external vendor and partner systems.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues in existing Web applications, APIs, and integrations; perform root-cause analysis on data and connectivity failures.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to define integration requirements, data mappings, authentication methods, and error-handling standards for new interfaces.
- Establish and enforce coding, security, and documentation standards for Web and API development, including use of the change management system (Rocket DevOps Core / Aldon LMi).
- Ensure security of Web applications, APIs, and integration endpoints, including authentication, encryption, and safe handling of data in transit.Â
- Monitor API and integration performance and availability; recommend and implement enhancements to improve reliability and throughput.
- Develop and maintain mobile applications for Apple and Android platforms, including integrating mobile apps with backend APIs and data sources.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:Â Associate degree or equivalent in Computer Programming from a two-year college or technical college. Minimum of five years of work experience in Web development, API/integration development, or Computer Programming/Analysis.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Must possess in-depth knowledge of Web technologies, protocols, and tools (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP) as well as a strong understanding of API design and integration methods (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, Web services).
- Must be able to integrate Web and API layers with backend databases and applications, including DB2 for i and RPG/RPGLE-based systems.
- Must understand authentication and security practices for APIs and data-in-transit (API keys, OAuth, encryption).
- Maintain a thorough understanding of application development, integration testing methodologies, coding methods, and best practices.
- Must have a working knowledge of mobile application development for Apple (iOS) and Android platforms.
- Must be able to conduct research into emerging Web, API, and integration technologies, remaining flexible and adaptable to learning new systems.
- Exhibit proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Preferred knowledge of a change management system, including Rocket DevOps Core (Aldon LMi), and the insurance industry.
Physical Requirements:
- Light Work: involves a mix of sitting, standing, and walking.
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
- Requires close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer screen, visual inspection, or extensive reading.
- Ability to have a flexible work schedule to meet business needs and be at work on-site during specified or core hours.
