What you'll do...

Role summary:
The Senior Data Analyst, Advanced Analytics develops analytical solutions that connect data and business signals across the merchandising lifecycle. The role helps identify how decisions and execution across planning, purchase orders, inventory, fulfillment, and stores influence business performance. This position translates complex business questions into structured analyses, metrics, and insights, investigates drivers and dependencies across processes, and independently delivers scalable analytical solutions in partnership with business and technical teams.
About the team:
Merch Decision Sciences’ Platforms and Experiences team develops foundations and experiences that help Merchandising make high-quality, scalable decisions. We work across the decision lifecycle: digitizing how Merchandising operates in data, developing analytical constructs and mechanisms to understand business performance, bringing external market intelligence into merchant workflows, applying science, developing agents for insights and automation, and building merchant-facing experiences that translate capabilities into action. Our multidisciplinary team brings together data product management, data engineering, analytics, data science, and agent development around business problems. We also steward the data and analytical foundations that power merchandising platforms and decision-making experiences across Walmart.
What you'll do:

Analyze data across planning, assortment, purchase order execution, inventory flow, fulfillment, and store execution to connect upstream decisions with downstream outcomes and identify performance drivers and opportunities.
Develop trusted metrics and data assets by reconciling sources, validating business logic, and improving data quality.
Apply exploratory analysis, statistical methods, and forecasting to complex merchandising questions.
Translate findings into clear visualizations and recommendations for Merchandising and partner teams.
Independently own analytical work from problem definition through delivery, partnering with Merchandising, Product, Engineering, and Data teams to develop and implement scalable solutions.

What you'll bring:

Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python or R for working with large, complex datasets and developing analytical solutions.
Experience with exploratory analysis, statistical methods, forecasting, and root-cause analysis to identify trends and business drivers.
Strong understanding of data quality, profiling, validation, and metric development to build trusted analytical assets.
Ability to translate complex business requirements into structured analytical approaches and actionable insights.
Strong communication and data storytelling skills with the ability to influence business and technical stakeholders.
Experience in merchandising, retail, inventory, or supply chain analytics is preferred.

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $155,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
