Night Care Assistant
from 🇬🇧 United Kingdom
At Home Instead, we believe that care doesn't stop when the sun goes down. Many of our clients feel the most vulnerable during the night; our mission is to provide them with the same high-quality, relationship-led support after dark as we do during the day. We are proud to have recently been awarded a 5-Star Employer status from WorkBuzz, based on the views of our clients and Care Assistants.Â
As a Night Care Assistant, you provide comfort and peace of mind. Whether you are providing a waking night (staying awake to provide active support) or a sleep-in (being available if needed), your presence ensures that our clients can remain safe, comfortable and confident in their own homes throughout the night.Â
Key responsibilities of a Night Care Assistant:Â
- Night-time reassurance: Providing a calming presence for clients who may feel anxious, confused or lonely during the night.Â
- Bedtime and morning routines: Assisting with evening winding-down (undressing, washing) and helping the client start their day with dignity in the morning.Â
- Personal care: Supporting with bathroom visits and personal hygiene throughout the night, ensuring the client's comfort and skin integrity.Â
- Medication support: Assisting with evening or early morning medication reminders.Â
- Monitoring and safety: Keeping a watchful eye on clients with specialised needs, such as those living with Dementia, to prevent falls and nocturnal incidents.Â
- Light housekeeping: During quieter moments (for waking nights), performing light housekeeping tasks to ensure the home is tidy and prepared for the client's morning.Â
We don't look for a specific qualification, but for a Night Care Assistant; experience in care is preferred. To be a good fit for our night team, you should be:Â
- A natural caregiver: You have a big heart and a genuine desire to help others feel safe.Â
- Dependable: Reliability is crucial for night care; our clients and their families rely on you to be there when the world is asleep.Â
- Observant and patient: You can spot small changes in a client's well-being and provide a patient, soothing response to nighttime confusion.Â
- Professional and trustworthy: You are comfortable working independently in a client's home while maintaining the highest standards of care.Â
Home Instead is committed to being the employer of choice in care, and our office has recently been awarded a 5 Star Employer status from WorkBuzz. By joining us, you receive:Â
- Competitive night rates: We value the dedication it takes to work through the night.Â
- Flexible scheduling: Night shifts that can work around your daytime commitments.Â
- Award-winning training: Access to City & Guilds assured training, including specialist modules in Dementia and End of Life.Â
- Comprehensive support: Even at 3 am, you are never alone. Our team provides a robust support system and 24/7 on-call support.
- Well-being and benefits: Access to our Employee Assistance Programme, pension schemes and career progression opportunities.Â
