The Opportunity:
You will be working in a small, cross-functional team of highly skilled engineers consisting of Power Electronics, Control Engineers, HW Electronics plus Thermal and Mechanical Engineers.
We develop a new breakthrough modular converter platforms based on wide bandgap semiconductors (e.g. SiC) for a range of grid and DC applications. The thermal analysis and newest cooling solutions are vital element of new platform and technology development. You are expected to push the technology boundaries in terms of efficiency, size and operational performance. In the future the solutions we are developing will be used for: integrating renewables, providing energy storage, improving power quality, and enabling green transportation plus e-Mobility.
How you'll make an impact:
- Modeling and design of thermal components and systems for power electronic converters, cabinets and systems
- Contribute to solving the challenges and optimization of the converter thermal system, which is an integral part of the complete converter design
- Be part of design process starting from idea generation, simulation, thermal system design, prototyping and finally verification of new converter products
- Take responsibility for specification, selection, qualification and verification of the thermal system
- Support a fast, iterative design process in a cross-functional, dedicated team. Use fast prototyping and lab mock-ups to close learning loops and achieve results quickly
- Working in modern laboratories; testing the thermal system in prototypes; evaluating designs limits

Your background:
- Master’s or PhD degree in Mechanical/Thermal Engineering
- 5+ years of experience with modeling and design of thermal components and systems,
- Experience with mechanical CAD and thermal CFD simulation tools (Ansys IcePak, …)
- Experience with specification, selection and qualification of thermal systems (heatsinks, fans, water cooling systems, …)
- Experience with power electronic converters/power supplies development process is an advantage
- Strong commitment to safe work practices and dedication to following all relevant workplace safety guidelines.
- A high level of self-motivation, curiosity and desire to learn about new technologies.
- A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and strong communication skills.
- As you will be part of a global business, fluency in written and spoken English is required
