The Opportunity: 

 

Join our Next Generation Grids Transformers team in Lodz and shape the future of energy. As an R&D Mechanical Engineer, you will work on cutting-edge distribution transformer and power converter technologies in a dynamic, international environment.  

You’ll be part of a collaborative global team, contributing to the full R&D lifecycle—from concept to testing and product launch, ensuring that our solutions meet both technical specifications and market demands. This role offers hands-on experience, technical growth, and the chance to make a real impact in the energy transition. 

 

 

How you'll make an impact: 

 

  • Propose and analyze innovative ideas for the mechanical design optimization and thermal analysis of next generation distribution transformers and power converters to fulfill the challenging technical requirements for new markets. 

  • Contribute to all stages of product development including mechanical design concepts, models and drawings, thermal simulations as well as prototype testing and final productization, by interacting with engineering and manufacturing departments globally. 

  • Take ownership of work packages and deliver results using a structured approach 

  • Document your work effectively, obtain conclusions and derive the design rules of the validated solutions. 

  • Engage constructively and collaborate in global team settings, sharing your technical knowledge to support colleagues in achieving timely and high-quality results. 

  • Contribute to intellectual property and risk management activities in R&D 

  • Provide technical support to factories, sales and customers. 

 

 

Your Background: 

 

  • MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, ideally with experience in R&D within a business environment 

  • Design experience with liquid-filled transformers, electric cabinets, basic knowledge of power converter design is a plus 

  • Experience in 2D and 3D CAD systems usage, preferably Creo Parametric, CAD models parametrization, SOLIDWORKS 

  • Experience with thermal and cooling issues as well as CFD simulation SW tools, such as ANSYS and COMSOL 

  • Experience with ERP and PLM systems  

  • Experience with strength and vibration issues as well as selection of structural and insulation materials 

  • Analytical thinking and ability to work independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary and international teams 

  • Awareness of business processes and technical standards related to product development 

  • Strong communication skills in English
