Title: Sr Software Eng (Android)
Location: Toronto, ON - Hybrid (4 Days WFO)

Duration: 6-12 months

Job Description:

This role offers visibility into, and influence over, all parts of the technology stack, with a high degree of autonomy. You will have insight into the product roadmap and the business' long-term vision, contributing constructively to both. The role involves interaction with product management and design, leading the planning, design, development, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of significant portions of the software that supports the chosen solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Kotlin and Java.
• Familiarity with standard library components like Coroutines & Flows.
• Experience with Jetpack Compose, declarative UI development, and creating shared components.
• Experience working with RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with dependency injection and test-driven development for Android.
• Passion for shipping apps with exquisite UI and excellent performance.
• Deep care for application security and understanding the importance of protecting sensitive user data.
• Prior work experience at client or in the client's industry.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with RxJava or other reactive programming frameworks.
• Experience with the OpenAPI Specification.
• Experience contributing to open-source projects.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably Github Actions.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of significant portions of the software that supports the business, monitoring and maintaining that software in production.
• Push the team to continuously make small improvements to our tech, leading by example.
• Empathize with the software’s users, understanding their challenges on an emotional level.
• Embrace an owner’s mindset, striving to make an impact and investing time, energy, and capital as if they were your own.
• Mentor and coach other engineers, providing guidance to get things unstuck.
