HireHawk connects skilled professionals with U.S. and Canadian companies building high-performing remote teams across Latin America and other global markets. We believe strong candidates should be able to do meaningful work from anywhere, supported by clear expectations, structured onboarding, and dedicated coordination. For this opportunity, we are partnering with an AI-powered technology company serving the oil and gas industry, whose QA team acts as the final validation layer before documents are delivered to customers.
About the Role
You will validate AI-generated document outputs across two core workstreams: SOP formatting and regulatory compliance. Working side by side with original source documents, you will confirm that instructions, warnings, references, and regulatory requirements are complete, accurate, and ready for customer use.
This role is well suited to a recent engineering graduate, an early-career professional with one to two years of experience, or a strong document reviewer who enjoys detailed, structured, and repetitive quality-control work. Direct oil and gas experience is preferred but is no longer required. Candidates from other engineering, technical documentation, quality assurance, compliance, or regulated-industry backgrounds will be considered if they demonstrate strong aptitude, writing skills, and attention to detail.
As the first offshore QA specialist engaged through HireHawk for this team, you will have meaningful ownership and direct access to the product and engineering teams. The work requires patience and consistency, as you will regularly move between line-by-line document comparison and regulation-based review, with little room for missed details.
Responsibilities:
- Validate AI-reformatted procedures against original source documents, ensuring that no steps, warnings, cautions, notes, references, or supporting content have been omitted or altered.
- Confirm that reformatted SOPs follow the HPOG Best Practice in Procedure Formatting standard, including structure, numbering, conditional logic, layout, and human-factors principles.
- Identify and clearly flag content that has been paraphrased, reordered, truncated, duplicated, or unintentionally changed during AI processing.
- Assess each reformatted procedure for readability, consistency, and practical usability from the perspective of the intended end user.
- Verify that AI-generated compliance flags are accurate, relevant, and correctly mapped to the applicable regulation, standard, or recommended practice.
- Evaluate AI-generated revisions to confirm they are technically reasonable, appropriately written, and consistent with the intent of the source requirement.
- Review corporate standards and policies against frameworks such as AER Directives, OGC requirements, API Recommended Practices, OSHA PSM under 29 CFR 1910.119, CAPP guidelines, and relevant environmental legislation.
- Cross-reference new and revised documents against internal policies and standards to identify conflicts, gaps, or inconsistencies.
- Record precise, actionable defects with clear references to the affected source and output locations, then verify corrections through regression testing.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to explain findings, track recurring error patterns, and help improve the platform’s document-processing and compliance models.
- Follow established review processes consistently while managing repetitive document-validation tasks across large volumes of content.
Must-Have:
- A degree or recent academic background in engineering, science, technical writing, quality assurance, environmental studies, occupational health and safety, or another relevant field.
- Up to two years of professional experience in engineering, technical documentation, quality assurance, compliance, operations, or a related area; strong recent graduates are also encouraged to apply.
- Experience reviewing, comparing, editing, or authoring detailed documents, such as SOPs, operating procedures, policies, standards, reports, regulatory submissions, or technical documentation.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to perform consistent, methodical comparisons across large document volumes.
- Strong written English, including the ability to explain errors, discrepancies, and compliance concerns clearly.
- The patience and focus required to complete repetitive, process-driven document review work accurately.
- Strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to understand unfamiliar technical or regulatory concepts through training and independent research.
- Comfort using document management, quality assurance, collaboration, or issue-tracking tools.
Nice to Have:
- Practical experience or academic exposure related to the oil and gas, energy, manufacturing, industrial, environmental, or process-safety sectors.
- Familiarity with at least one regulatory or industry framework, such as AER, OGC, API Recommended Practices, OSHA PSM, ISO standards, or an equivalent framework.
- Certification or formal training in HSE, process safety, quality management, technical writing, regulatory compliance, or a related discipline.
- Experience with pipeline integrity, well-site operations, facilities documentation, production operations, or other industrial environments.
- Background in regulatory affairs, compliance auditing, management systems, document control, or corporate policy governance.
- Previous experience validating AI-generated content for factual accuracy, completeness, consistency, or compliance.
- Exposure to environmental compliance documentation, including EPEA approvals, emissions reporting, or provincial and federal environmental requirements.
- Access to a $200K+ perk marketplace with discounts on 150+ global services.
- Option to withdraw up to 50% of approved earnings before payday.
