JOB SUMMARY:

This hourly Studio Technician will be primarily responsible for maintaining the digital, photographic, and foundation art studios housed in Blodgett Hall. In conjunction with the FT Director of Studio Operations, this part time Blodgett Technician will serve as the liaison between IT, the Art Department, and the OSHA Safety officer. This position will work up to 20 hours a week.

REPORTS TO:Department Chair, Studio Area Coordinators and Technical Director

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. A primary responsibility of this technician is to provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students who want to incorporate technology into their classrooms or studio practices.

2. Specifically, this part-time technician will maintain the digital print hub, which includes a large-format printer, a desktop printer, and two 3-D printers, and assist students with Adobe Applications, print projects, and equipment checkout.

3. They will also maintain the two Mac labs, oversee student workers, and maintain all Blodgett studios, including the newly renovated darkroom, the lighting studio, the graphic design ideation studio, and Foundations’ drawing and 2-D spaces. 

4. This position will work closely with the Klapper Studio Technician/Director of Studio Operations to coordinate between both buildings and support all studio space needs.

REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

1. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaborate with faculty and other staff to solve problems.

2. Extensive understanding of Adobe digital applications, digital printing, and computer software.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1. BFA in design, technology, photography, or digital art is preferred.

HOURS:

This position will have an hourly rate of $20/hour and work up to 20 hours per week, depending on the department's needs and the hourly staff’s availability.
