As CEO, you will partner with the Board of Directors, leadership team, staff, and community to advance the YMCA's mission, strengthen financial stability, and expand programs and services.
You'll help:
- Sustain our current programming and thoughtfully expand it.
- Develop and support leaders who love their work and help create an energizing workplace for others.
- Build partnerships across healthcare, education, business, government, and the service clubs that bind a community together.

Develop and Implement a Strategic Plan
Work effectively with volunteers, community leaders, and key staff to create and develop a strategic plan that addresses the needs of the communities served by the Y and includes defined organizational strategies, a clear implementation plan with deliverables, and measurable goals.

Improve Operating Performance
Engage the board and appropriate staff to develop an annual tactical plan for identifying and achieving key goals and objectives toward operating with safe, relevant, and sustainable practices. Quickly address issues that may arise, forecast future needs, and manage and direct the Y’s operations and activities.

Fiscal Management
Use high-level financial analysis to forecast financial trends, growth, and stability, while consistently leading the organization to balance or surplus operations by growing earned revenue and contributions and controlling costs. Empower and guide staff leaders to lead their departments to successful financial operation. Develop and implement stewardship strategies.

Position the Y as a Vital Partner for Community Change
Serve as an ambassador for the mission, purpose, and vision for the YMCA within the community. Possess the ability to develop and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds, while always upholding the highest standards and values of the Y. Ensure the Y is seen as a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community by connecting all people to their potential, purpose, and each other.

Steward Fundraising Efforts
Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan that will establish the YMCA as a leading nonprofit organization within the community through the engagement of members, volunteers, staff, and donors. Identify the need for successful capital fundraising, while taking the organization to a new level of effectiveness and impact in annual giving and endowment.

Build and Lead Staff
Ensure a talent development system is in place and executed effectively with cultural competence. Hire, motivate, nurture, retain, and hold staff accountable for key objectives. Work toward recruiting, retaining, developing, and promoting staff. Encourage the team by creating a spirit of camaraderie, connection, and sense of mission and purpose. Create a learning organization to help staff achieve their highest potential.

The YMCA of Douglas County strengthens the community by helping people of all ages connect, grow, and thrive. In 2025, nearly 2,000 people participated in swim lessons, more than 700 youth joined sports programs, and local children benefited from quality childcare and enrichment. Branch Information:The YMCA of Douglas County is a full-service facility of approximately 67,000 square feet in Roseburg, Oregon. The facility serves as a central gathering place for wellness, recreation, youth development, family engagement, and community connection, offering a broad range of spaces designed to support members of all ages and abilities.
The facility includes a comprehensive aquatic center featuring two indoor pools—a six-lane, 25-yard lap pool and a 25-yard therapeutic/recreation pool with lift accessibility—along with two hot tubs, a sauna, and a steam room.
Fitness amenities include a full wellness center with cardio and strength areas, free weights, functional training space, personal training areas, two group exercise studios, and a 3,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor functional fitness courtyard.
Additional amenities include a full-size gymnasium and courts for basketball, volleyball, and pickleball; youth and family activity spaces; licensed preschool space; childcare areas; teen spaces; locker rooms and individual shower rooms; community and multipurpose rooms; a roller skating rink through a shared-use partnership; and administrative offices supporting membership, finance, development, childcare, and operations.

- Youth Development: Licensed childcare, after-school care, youth sports, and the Roseburg Y Junior Cheer program.

SALARY, BENEFITS, & CRITERIA
Salary Range:$115,000–$145,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Benefits:
- YMCA Retirement contribution once eligibility is met: 7% paid by the Y and 5% paid by the employee.
- YMCA 403(b) savings account, 100% employee contribution.
- Health plan: The Y pays 100% of the employee’s health insurance premium. Coverage for eligible family members is available in accordance with the YMCA’s personnel policy.
- Dental plan (100% paid by Y).
- Paid Time Off (PTO): Accrued vacation and sick days per personnel policy.
- Other benefits per personnel policy.
Residency Expectation:Living in the YMCA’s service area is required.
Criteria for Candidates:Â
- Proven leadership of people and organizations; YMCA experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated financial stewardship, including a fiscally sound business management approach and proven budgetary leadership with annual budgets of $3 million or more.
- Accredited four-year college degree and/or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of seven years of prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization, including direct supervision of multiple levels of staff and employees.
- Ability to develop and strengthen community relationships.
- Ability to develop innovative programs and review and enhance programs being offered or considered for both economic sustainability and effectiveness in broadening engagement in the communities served.
- Strategic planning and fundraising experience, including annual campaigns and securing grants.
- Strong communication and public engagement skills, with the ability to serve as a visible and credible ambassador for the YMCA’s mission.
- YMCA Organizational Leader Certification or ability to achieve certification within three years.
