Safety EHS (Engineer)

New Bern, NC / Full-time

Your responsibilities

·      Focus on identifying and resolving Environment, Health & Safety Issues.

·      Provide EHS related training

·      Maintain EHS training matrix

·      Investigate EHS related accidents and near misses, implement corrective actions, track corrective actions to closure.

·      Recommend processes and safety features that will reduce employee’s exposure to chemical, physical and biological hazards.

·      Inspect facilities, machinery and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards.

·      Maintain current knowledge of regulatory change affecting the EHS discipline.

·      Manage hazardous waste.

·      Maintain records in accordance with EPA and OSHA.

·      Assist in development of EHS policies and procedures

·      Participate in the ISO 14001 Environmental Program to ensure compliance to regulation.

·      Conduct EHS audits, implement corrective actions, and track corrective actions to closure.

·      Create Job Hazard Analysis’

·      Maintain & Manage Electrical Safety programs

·      Responsible for approving new chemicals and maintaining Safety Data Sheet Database. Collaborate with supervisors to address and resolve day-to-day EHS related issues. Help coordinate emergency drills.

·      Be an agent of change and promote a strong safety culture.

·      Assist Facility Engineer in monitoring the activities of on-site vendors/contractors to ensure compliance.

·      Complies, generates, and files annual regulatory reporting as assigned.

Your profile

·      Two-Year College Degree (Safety) – Required

·      3-5 Years of Experience (in similar role) – Required

·      Domestic and International Travel may be required.

·      Ability to work at multiple sites. • Ability to respond in emergency situations calmly with authority.

·      Must be able to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines.

·      Strong written, verbal and presentation communications skills.

·      Independent decision-making skills.

·      Ability to be effective and diplomatic in working with people across all organizational levels.

·      Technical writing skills preferred.

·      Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, ISO 14001.

·      Job functions require the ability to work with Computer, MS Office, Visio. AutoCAD preferred

·      Travel = 10%

Your Pay & Benefits

The pay range posted for this position is based on the location noted in the posting title. Exact compensation offered may vary based on your specific skillset and work location. If the position is bonus or incentive eligible then the payments range from 0% to 200% of target with details laid out within the plan document.

 Benefits offered include the following:

·       Two weeks of paid vacation for all non-temporary status new hires below Director level positions. Vacation entitlement increases based on years of service with BSH.

·       Unlimited paid vacation for all Director and above level positions.

·       The greater of (a) 40 hours of paid sick leave or (b) state or local minimum requirements for paid leave (Non-Production Line).

·       40 hours of paid personal leave (Production Line).

·       12 days of paid holidays per year (max 8 hours paid per day).
