Role overview

Our client operates one of the world's largest online community and discussion platforms, serving millions of users through personalized feeds, search, recommendations, and content discovery experiences. The engineering team is focused on building large-scale distributed systems that power real-time user engagement, content discovery, and personalization at massive scale.

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with strong expertise inPython,Go, anddistributed systems. This role combines backend development, platform engineering, and cross-functional collaboration with Product, Machine Learning, and Infrastructure teams. The ideal candidate has experience buildinghigh-scale B2C systems (10mil+ DAU), designing resilient backend services, and working in modern cloud-native environments.

CONTRACT: Contractor, Subcontractor, EOR, or FTE (depending on location)

COMMITMENT: Full-time

LOCATION: Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Guatemala, Panama, Chile

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintainbackend services powering personalized feeds, search, and user-facing products
• Build scalable and reliabledistributed systems supporting millions of users
• Develop high-quality frontend features usingReact
• Write clean, maintainable, and high-performance code
• Design and maintainautomated testing frameworks and quality assurance processes
• Collaborate closely withMachine Learning, Product, and Infrastructure teams
• Improve system reliability, scalability, and operational performance
• Contribute to architecture decisions and platform evolution
• Participate in debugging, monitoring, and production issue resolution

• 5+ years of software engineering experience in production environments
• Strong proficiency inGo andPython
• Experience building and operatingdistributed systems at scale
• Strong frontend experience withReact and modern JavaScript development
• Experience withRedis,PostgreSQL,Cassandra, or similar database technologies
• Strong testing mindset with experience in automated testing and debugging
• Experience withDocker,Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD workflows
• Experience with public cloud platforms such asAWS orGCP

• Experience working on the backends of large-scale B2C applications (10M+ daily active users), optimizing for high throughput and reliability
