At GoGlobal, the Team Lead (Manager), Accounting, Tax & Payments (ATP) leads the day-to-day delivery team in our Kuala Lumpur hub. This is a people-and-process leadership role: you are accountable for developing and getting the best from a team of Specialists and Associates, and for the standards, workflows, and quality that allow the team to deliver full-set bookkeeping, accounting, and tax-compliance work reliably and at scale.

Your two priorities are people and process. On people, you lead, coach, and grow the team, manage performance and capacity, and build a healthy, high-performing environment in the hub. On process, you own the consistency and quality of the team’s work — embedding SOPs and global ATP standards, reviewing deliverables, and continuously improving how the team works.

You are the first technical escalation point for your team and the senior operational contact for the clients in your portfolio, escalating tax-advisory or complex regulatory matters to the RPO.

Roles & Responsibilities

People & Team Leadership

  • Lead, supervise, and develop a team of Accounting Specialists and Associates in the Malaysia hub — setting clear expectations, allocating work, and balancing capacity, deadlines, and individual development needs.
  • Lead regular performance check-ins, set objectives, identify training needs, and actively support each team member’s professional growth.
  • Build a healthy, motivated, and high-performing team culture in the hub, where people feel supported and accountable in equal measure.
  • Arrange backup and continuity coverage across the team so that client service is uninterrupted during leave, illness, or peak periods.
  • Build the team’s capability across the jurisdictions GoGlobal supports — bookkeeping conventions, local compliance, and statutory reporting requirements beyond the home market.

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Own consistent, process-oriented ways of working, embedding GoGlobal’s global ATP standards for workflows, controls, and review practices as the foundation for scalable, reliable delivery.
  • Continuously improve operating procedures, in line with standards defined by the Global Product Manager (GPM).
  • Identify inefficiencies and apply standardised approaches consistently across the portfolio, raising improvement ideas to the regional process owners.
  • Champion the adoption of new accounting systems, tools, and process changes within the team, leading rollout and adoption in the hub.

Quality Review & Technical Oversight

  • Ensure all team deliverables meet GoGlobal’s quality standards, internal controls, and client SLAs.
  • Serve as the first technical escalation point for the team on accounting, bookkeeping, and compliance questions arising from client work.
  • Review work prepared by Specialists — full sets of accounts, bookkeeping entries, analytical schedules — for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Escalate tax-advisory, complex technical accounting, or unusual regulatory matters to the Director / RPO, ATP.

Client Delivery & Support

  • Own day-to-day client relationships across an assigned portfolio, managing expectations on deliverables, timelines, and scope.
  • Serve as the senior operational point of contact for clients on the work the team delivers, addressing escalations and resolving issues promptly.
  • Support onboarding of new clients within the portfolio, ensuring a smooth transition, embedded processes, and a positive early experience.
  • Proactively identify portfolio risks — resourcing pressure, quality concerns, scope creep, client satisfaction — and address them before they escalate.

Compliance & Audit Support

  • Ensure all team work complies with applicable accounting standards, GoGlobal internal policies, and jurisdiction-specific compliance requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits as required — providing accurate working papers, supporting documentation, and accounting context.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in accounting, finance operations, or BPO / shared-services environments.
  • 3+ years leading or supervising a team of accounting professionals, with a demonstrated ability to develop people and manage performance.
  • Strong people skills — motivating, and building a healthy, high-performing team.
  • A process-oriented mindset, with a track record of maintaining SOPs and applying standardised approaches to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Hands-on experience reviewing full sets of accounts and managing a client portfolio.
  • Demonstrated experience managing accounting work across multiple jurisdictions — willingness to learn additional jurisdictions as the portfolio grows.
  • Proficiency in ERP / accounting systems (Xero, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent); familiarity with automation tooling is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in a BPO, shared-services, EOR, or outsourced-accounting environment is a plus.
