Job Description Summary
The Senior Deterministic Safety Analysis (DSA) Engineer position will make immediate contributions to the team responsible for BWRX-300 deterministic safety analyses. The DSA team is responsible for performing safety analysis in support of various applications for BWRX-300 transient analyses, thermal hydraulic analyses, containment analysis, and stability analysis.Job Description
The individual will work within an energetic team environment to perform thermal-hydraulic and plant transient analyses to support a variety of applicationsĀ encompassing BWRX-300 DSA.Ā The position offers limitless opportunitiesĀ toĀ contribute toĀ the fundamental bases of nuclear power plant operations and safety analysis by applyingĀ state-of-the-artĀ thermal hydraulics methods to satisfy licensing requirements and solveĀ real day-to-dayĀ plant problems.Ā Additionally, this position has direct customer-facing opportunities through training, deliverables, and collaboration.Ā The DSA team offers unique opportunities to create and/or improveĀ cutting-edgeĀ automation and methods.Ā
Essential Responsibilities:Ā
As theĀ SeniorĀ Deterministic SafetyĀ Analysis Engineer, you will:Ā Ā
- Lead a variety of projects including technical evaluations and analysesĀ in the area ofĀ Anticipated Operational Occurrences,Ā AnticipatedĀ Transients without Scram, Reactor Heat Balance, and Thermal Hydraulic Fuel Channel Analyses.
- Perform plant thermal hydraulic evaluations and analyses in the areas of Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and RIPD analyses.Ā
- Perform plant thermal hydraulic evaluations and analyses in the areas ofĀ BWR stability.Ā Ā
- Deliver products at a consistently high and sustainable levelĀ in accordance withĀ customer requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines.Ā
- Utilize unique opportunities to create and/or improveĀ cutting-edgeĀ automation and methodsĀ
- Prepare thorough andĀ accurateĀ technical reports, correspondence, documentation, and calculationsĀ
- Perform technical verification of engineering technical deliverablesĀ
- Prepare, communicate, and present complex technical issues to internal and external customers and recommend solutionsĀ
- Perform in cross-disciplinary settings, engaged with interfacing teams responsible for mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design, or other affiliated organizations to findĀ optimumĀ customer solutions.Ā
- Ensure work is performed with high qualityĀ in accordance withĀ regulatory rules and regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards.Ā
Required Qualifications:Ā
- B.S. Degree in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or similar).Ā
- At leastĀ 8Ā years of relevant nuclear experienceĀ
Eligibility Requirements:Ā
- This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.Ā
- The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters Wilmington, NC but qualified remote candidates will be considered.Ā
Desired Characteristics:Ā
- Master's Degree or Ph.D. Degree in Engineering; or Senior Reactor Operator CertificationĀ
- Experience with BWR core simulation and thermal-hydraulic systems codes.Ā
- Experience with BWR Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and RIPD analyses.Ā
- Extensive knowledge of BWR Systems and integrated plant responseĀ
- Extensive knowledge of the fundamental principles of nuclear engineering such as nuclear physics, thermal hydraulics, and mechanical design, as applied to BWRĀ
- ExpertiseĀ in two-phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques.Ā
- Experience with standard engineering work planning and design process techniquesĀ
- Knowledge of reactor licensing requirementsĀ
- Experience with BWR/PWR T-H systems codes such as TRACG, RELAP & TRACEĀ
- Experience in Best EstimateĀ methodologyĀ development (e.g., TRACG)Ā
- Experience with Containment codes such as GOTHICĀ
- Experience with Best Estimate and CSAU applicationsĀ
- Programming experience such as C#, FORTRAN, or PYTHONĀ

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $111,200.00 and $213,200.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidateās experience, education, and skill set.Ā

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.Ā
