A Bit About Us
Gamemode One is a selfâfunded, valuesâdriven studio with roots in Minecraft and growing ambitions beyond. We care deeply about our peopleâfirst culture that enables our best work.
This role is on our small, talentâdense indie team. Weâre developing an ambitious physicsâbased game in Unity; A chaotic sandbox adventure with strong moment-to-moment feel.
The Opportunity
In our growing organization, youâll build and execute the pre-launch community strategy for our unannounced title, while helping define the gameâs voice, tone, and community-facing brand presence. Youâll create and manage social content that drives awareness, engagement, and Steam wishlists, while building relationships with players, streamers, and influencers ahead of launch.
Youâll bring your knowledge of strategic marketing, social media, and content creation. Youâll also learn more about indie game launch marketing, Steam-focused community growth, and the gameâs audience. You will work closely with production, design, and QA to turn product context into consistent player communication. You wonât just be working on a great game, but actively shaping game reception and building a healthy player community.
What do we mean when we say âMid-levelâ?
This role is listed at an experience level of âMid-levelâ. We know that this can mean something different across employers. For us, this means we are looking for someone who already has community, social media, marketing, or communications experience that they can contribute to the role. This may be a mix of personal and professional experience. We are looking for someone who will be confident working on strategy and execution, creating content, engaging with communities, and making clear recommendations in a changing environment. You will have a meaningful impact on how players discover, understand, and connect with the game before and after launch. This is likely not the role for you if you are looking for a heavily directed role, a role focused only on posting content, or your first chance to learn the basics of community and social media work.

Why our job descriptions look like this
Our job descriptions look different than the average, and thatâs on purpose! We find the normal approach to be far too prescriptive. Defining explicit qualifications and requirements would be us defining how you should have acquired a certain skillset. What these generally achieve is intimidating those who donât fit the mold to not apply. Thatâs not our style. In an effort to be inclusive, and clear, we take a more descriptive approach. Read through the opportunity, and the description of the work youâll be doing. Decide for yourself if the work excites you, and is something that you are able to rise to the challenge of.
