Position: Full-Time / Exempt / Salaried

• Tier I Salary: $70,000 - $76.000 (Associate / provisional licensure ( LMSW, LPCC-provisional, LADAC-provisional) 
• Tier 2 Salary: $77,000 - $82,000 (Independently licensed ( LCSW, LPCC, LMFT), not yet formally designated as a clinical supervisor)
• Tier 3 Salary: $83,000 - $87,000 (Independently licensed and formally designated as clinical supervisor by FYI+ )

Location: Las Cruces, NM (Primary Site)

Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Crisis and Recovery Services provides day-to-day operational and clinical leadership, in partnership with the Director of Crisis and Recovery Services, for Mobile Crisis Services, Crisis Stabilization Services, Substance Use Disorder Services, Comprehensive Community Support Services, and Psychiatric Rehabilitation. The Assistant Director also supports High Fidelity Wraparound as assigned. The role translates department priorities into reliable operations, effective supervision, safe clinical practice, timely response, and continuity after a crisis.

The Assistant Director partners with the Director to strengthen and stabilize program operations, clinical quality, workforce performance, and service capacity. The position combines operational leadership with clinical leadership and is responsible for identifying and addressing barriers that affect timely access, continuity of care, staff effectiveness, service delivery, and participant outcomes. The overarching goal is to help programs serve more individuals, provide services at the frequency appropriate to their needs, and achieve stronger and more consistent outcomes.

The Assistant Director provides direct administrative supervision to assigned Mobile Crisis and Crisis Stabilization staff, supports established program supervisors and leaders across the broader portfolio, and provides high-risk consultation, clinician coverage, and selected assessment services within the scope of the incumbent's license. Formal clinical supervision is not an automatic responsibility of this position; FYI+ makes that assignment separately in writing. An Assistant Director may provide such supervision to assigned staff only when independently licensed, authorized for the applicable discipline, appropriately credentialed, and formally designated by FYI+. Otherwise, FYI+ will assign another qualified independently licensed clinician.

Core Responsibilities

Program Operations
Runs day-to-day operations for Mobile Crisis and Crisis Stabilization, and coordinates support across related programs (Substance Use Disorder, Community Support, Psychiatric Rehab, Wraparound). Translates priorities into workflows, protocols, and coverage plans.

Staff Supervision
Directly supervises Mobile Crisis/Crisis Stabilization staff (other programs stay under their existing reporting lines unless reassigned). Handles 1:1s, time-off approvals, performance reviews, and coaching.

Clinical Leadership
Consults on high-risk/complex cases, reviews clinical documentation for quality and compliance, and helps set clinical standards. Notably,formal clinical supervision is a separate, FYI+-assigned function — this role can only provide it if independently licensed and formally designated.

Access & Capacity
Monitors crisis call volume, dispatch, wait lists, and caseloads to identify and resolve bottlenecks; strengthens handoffs to ongoing care.

Compliance & Quality
Ensures adherence to CCBHC, Medicaid, licensing, and contract standards; oversees chart audits, incident reviews, and tracks key performance indicators.

Workforce Development
Supports hiring, on-boarding, training coordination, and staff readiness/retention efforts.

Financial/Contract Stewardship
Assists the Director with budget monitoring, staffing efficiency, and grant/contract deliverable tracking.

Cross-Program & Community Coordination
Builds referral pathways and partnerships with hospitals, EMS, law enforcement, 988, and community organizations; represents the department in meetings.

Direct Clinical Work
Provides hands-on crisis coverage (including on-call/weekend rotations, stipend-compensated), plus limited intake assessments for Psych Rehab/Wraparound — capped at 5 per week, assessment-only (no ongoing case management).

Qualifications

Education and Licensure

•  Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related mental health field.

•  Current New Mexico professional license in a behavioral health discipline that permits the incumbent to perform the assigned clinical services under applicable supervision, maintained in good standing.

•  Independent clinical licensure is preferred but not required.

•  The incumbent must practice within the scope of the license and participate in formal clinical supervision whenever required by law, professional board rules, credentialing, payer requirements, or agency policy.

Experience

•  Minimum of one year of experience in a management, supervisory, or team-lead role is preferred.

•  Experience providing behavioral health crisis intervention, high-risk assessment, or related acute behavioral health services.

•  Demonstrated ability to make timely, sound clinical judgments and remain adaptable and effective in high-acuity situations.

•  Experience with trauma-informed care, multidisciplinary teams, compliance monitoring, and program documentation.

•  Experience working within a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic or similar community-based organization is preferred.

•  Experience with electronic health record systems; familiarity with Streamline Smart Care is preferred.
