Job Overview:
As part of ourShared Services Center (SSC) in Tunisia, and reporting directly to theGroup Head of Accounting, you will play a strategic role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the Group's financial statements.
As aSenior General Ledger Accountant, you will be the accounting owner for one or several legal entities, managing complex accounting operations from month-end close through statutory reporting and external audits. Leveraging your experience in international environments, you will oversee high-volume accounting activities, ensure compliance with local accounting and tax regulations, and contribute to the continuous improvement of Finance processes.
Beyond your operational responsibilities, you will serve as atechnical reference within the team, supporting junior accountants, resolving complex accounting matters, and promoting best practices across the organization.
This position is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys combining technical expertise, autonomy, process optimization, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced international environment.
Your Responsibilities:
1. General Ledger Accounting & Financial Closings
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process for your assigned legal entities, ensuring compliance with Group deadlines.
Review and post complex accounting entries, including:
Provisions
Accruals
Prepaid expenses (CCA)
Deferred income (PCA)
Payroll entries
Tax provisions
Depreciation
Other closing adjustments
Work closely with FP&A and Management Control teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Guarantee the quality and reliability of financial statements.
2. Balance Sheet Reconciliations
Perform monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts.
Investigate and resolve outstanding reconciliation items.
Ensure every balance sheet account is fully substantiated with appropriate supporting documentation.
Monitor account integrity and proactively identify anomalies.
3. Intercompany Accounting
Lead monthly intercompany reconciliations.
Coordinate with international entities to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
Ensure accurate elimination of intercompany transactions.
4. Audit, Compliance & Financial Governance
Prepare annual statutory audit files.
Coordinate external audits with accounting firms and statutory auditors.
Ensure full compliance with local accounting, tax, and legal regulations.
Act as the main accounting contact for your assigned entities during audits.
5. Process Improvement & Technical Leadership
Document and continuously improve accounting procedures.
Identify opportunities to automate and optimize accounting processes.
Act as the technical point of reference for junior General Ledger Accountants.
Support colleagues in resolving complex accounting issues.
Contribute to Finance transformation initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
What We're Looking For:
Education:
Master's degree (Bac+5) in Accounting, Finance, or Chartered Accountancy.
Experience:
7 to 10+ years of professional experience in General Ledger Accounting or Financial Accounting.
We are particularly interested in candidates with one of the following backgrounds (listed in order of preference):
Senior General Ledger Accountant within aShared Services Center (SSC) of a large international group.
Senior General Ledger Accountant within the Tunisian subsidiary of a major international company.
General Ledger Accountant orFinancial Controller within a large Tunisian group operating numerous subsidiaries across Europe.
General Ledger Accountant within aBig Four accounting firm.
Technical Skills:
Extensive expertise in General Ledger Accounting.
Strong experience managing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.
Excellent knowledge of IFRS and/or local GAAP principles.
Advanced Excel skills.
Strong experience with ERP systems,SAP being highly preferred.
Experience working with high-volume accounting transactions in a multinational environment.
Languages:
Fluent French (written and spoken).
Professional English (written and spoken).

Proven ability to collaborate effectively with Treasury, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Tax, FP&A, Controlling, and external auditors.

🏡 Hybrid/Remote work policy: Full remote work is available, withone mandatory on-site week per month (Monday to Friday) during the Group Head of Accounting's visit to the Tunis office. These weeks are planned well in advance and are part of the employment agreement.
