About the Role
This is a Senior Software Engineer role on the forward deployed engineering team at a growth-stage fintech-adjacent technology company. The position exists because the team needs someone who can work directly at the intersection of customer needs and core product, translating complex technical requirements into real solutions while keeping strong ties to the engineering org.
The ideal candidate has a clear upward trajectory, ideally from a VC-backed startup or a high-bar tech company, and brings genuine depth in backend or full-stack engineering. You communicate technical ideas cleanly to non-technical audiences, you write code without leaning on AI as a crutch, and you have the fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, system design) to back it all up.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain scalable backend and full-stack systems using Python, TypeScript, Go, or similar modern languages
- Work directly with customers or customer-facing teams to scope, design, and deliver technical solutions
- Translate ambiguous customer requirements into well-architected, production-ready code
- Design and implement third-party integrations and REST API connections
- Contribute to system design discussions and help raise the technical bar across the team
- Communicate trade-offs and technical decisions clearly to both engineering peers and non-technical stakeholders
- Participate in three-stage virtual interviews (live coding, technical and system design, behavioral) as part of onboarding pipeline awareness
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of experience in full-stack or backend software engineering (6+ years considered on a strong profile)
- CS degree or equivalent technical degree
- Proficiency in at least one of: Python, TypeScript, or Go
- Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, and scalable system design
- Experience at a VC-backed startup or a high-bar, fast-paced technology company
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Currently based in New York, NY
- US citizen, green card holder, or E3/TN visa holder only (H-1B and O-1 not supported)
Preferred Skills
- Prior forward deployed or customer-facing engineering experience
- Clear upward career trajectory, including promotions rather than lateral moves
- Experience with AI/ML automation or integrations
- Familiarity with GCP and SQL in a production context
- Fintech or domain-adjacent industry experience
