Job Summary

The Market Medical Directoris an important part of theArchWell Healthleadershipteam.Thephysician in this rolewill be responsible for leadingPCPs inhis/her neighborhood of clinics,which may includesomeclinical practicealongside their physician colleaguesin order to remain close to our patients.

They will alsohave mission-critical leadership responsibilities, which include setting an example for howhigh-qualityprimary care is practiced, serving as aleader,mentor andcoach to providers inArchWell Healthcenters. They will alsoprovideinput oncritical organizational-wide strategic initiatives.

Candidate Responsibilities

TheMarket MedicalDirectorwill havesubstantial administrative time for the following leadership and administrative duties:

• Provider Management: We wantour leaders to beclose to the bedsideand keep theirpulse on the carethat is being delivered. This meansthatourMarket MedicalDirectors are in thecenters providingleadership, support and structure to our physicians andcareteams. This includes ensuringthat our centers areproperlystaffed andcall schedules are covered, as well as recruiting/developing/coachingphysiciansand promoting them totake local leadership roles. The Market Medical Directorwillsupportperformance reviews for physiciansandplay a key role insupporting new physician orientation and ongoing training.  
• Leadership and Coaching:The success ofArchWell Health is not based on the volume of services we provide, but thequality of care that our patients receive.Toachievethisgoal wefollow metrics such as: (1)hospital admission rates and visits to theemergencydepartment(2)consistencyaround disease preventionand exceedingqualitytargetsand (3) a great patient experience. In other words:ensure that ourpatientsarehappy, healthy, and out of the hospital. Our Market Medical Directorsknow that many physicians have notbeentaught how todo this, andtheyshare their wisdomtoeducatephysiciansonhowtosuccessfully manage patients inavalue-based care environment. Theycoach theirphysiciancolleagues on how to utilizedata-driven tools andteachbest-practices, and canreference theirown experiencesand serve as a role-modelfor howtokeep patients well and out of the hospital. 
• Care Delivery and Center Operations: The Market Medical Director willleadmarket-levelclinicalmeetings, which includesweekly physician meetings andreviewsof currently/recently hospitalized patients and those at risk for clinical deterioration. The Market Medical Director will supportthe care teams andteach best practices related to daily huddles,telehealth, walk-invisits, hospital follow-up, patient experience, and otheractivities that are critical to ensuringour patientshave access to high-quality care. Thisrequires collaboration of allstaff, andmay include regular reviews ofqualitydashboardsand outcomesthatengage staff andfostersa culture ofaccountabilityandidentifies opportunities for improvement.    
• Support Organizational Strategy: We expect our Market Medical Directors toplay a key role insupportingour goal of continuous improvement.In addition toprovidingleadershipat the bedside,they willcollaborate withthe corporate team andleadershipin other marketstoshare best practices and improvement opportunities.While the MarketMedical Director willhave a deep understanding of their localregional/neighborhood,they will alsohave strategic input into a variety of organizational-widegoals andinitiatives that will includethe following categories: 
• • Network development andspecialtyreferrals 
  • Documentation and accurate coding 
  • Quality improvement and HEDIS measures 
  • Utilization management  
  • Transitional care and case management 
  • Clinical compliance and policy development 
  • Patient engagement and community outreach

Ideal candidates will be: 

• M.D. or D.O. graduates 
• Board certified/eligiblein Internal Medicine or Family Medicine(required) 
• Have at leastone (1) year experience in progressively responsible administrative or management-related position in a primary care environment 
• Haveexperience supervising providers andclinicalstaff withademonstrated record of success 
• Previous experience working within a managed careor value-basedenvironment 
• Be highly collaborative and enjoy leading teams with a patient-centric orientation  
• Driven to care for those with comorbid conditions, the elderly and/ormedicallyunderserved 
• Passionate about their work andenergized by being part of afast growing organization
