Finning Canada is seeking a Journeyperson Electrician/HET to join our Power & Energy service team, supporting Caterpillar (CAT) generator systems across a variety of customer sites and industries. This role is primarily responsible for the installation, commissioning, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting/repairs of CAT generator sets, battery energy storage systems, electrical distribution/control systems, and compressed air products.The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical capability, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently in a field based environment while representing Finning and Caterpillar to the highest standard.
What’s In It For You:
•Wage $55.84 ($50.25/hr during probation)
•$2.55 field premium when working at a remote minesite, $3.55 field premium when dispatched out of a local branch
•Dual ticket premium $3.25/hour
• Shift: 7x7 or 14x14 Continuous shift. All hours worked on Sundays paid at double-time
•Up to $1,000 travel assist per 28 day rotation
• Paid Time Off in Year 1: Vacation, and Sick

Job Description:
Major Job Functions:
- Install, commission, service, and troubleshoot CAT generator sets (diesel and natural gas)Â
- Perform electrical work on:Â Â
- Generator controls (EMCP/ECSÂ platforms)Â
- Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)Â
- Switchgear and distribution equipmentÂ
- Paralleling and load‑sharing systemsÂ
- Control Systems Â
- Read and interpret Electrical schematics and wiring diagrams and single line diagrams
- Functional testing and verificationÂ
- Load bank testingÂ
- Perform mechanical work on: Â
- Large Diesel and Nat. Gas enginesÂ
- Air Compressors Â
Qualifications:Â
- Journeyperson Electrician Certification (Red Seal preferred)Â
- HET Certification; (Apprentices will be considered) or, Willing to pursue apprenticeship Â
- Electrical Safety Training – Arc Flash and Shock (CSAZ462)Â
- FSRA or FSRB credential would be considered an asset
- Proven experience working on generators or power systems Â
- Experience with:Â Â
- Generator installation and commissioningÂ
- Natural Gas & Diesel Engine systemsÂ
- ATS and emergency power systemsÂ
- Electrical troubleshooting in industrial environmentsÂ
- Power Generation experience would be considered an assetÂ
- Generator Rebuild experience would be considered an assetÂ
- Heavy Duty Mechanical experience or certification would be considered an assetÂ
- Team player capable of working with minimal supervision, in challenging conditionsÂ
- Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detailÂ
- Valid class 5 driver’s license with a successful recent drivers abstractÂ
