About the Role:

We’re looking for a seasonedPerformance Test Engineer with5+ years of hands-on experience in performance, reliability, and resilience engineering for modern cloud-native systems. You’ll design and execute end‑to‑end performance testing strategies acrossLoad, Stress, Spike, Endurance, Capacity, Failover, DR, Chaos Engineering, Fault Injection, andGame Day exercises. You’ll be deeply technical and comfortable with tools likeApache JMeter, Locust, AWS Distributed Load Testing (DLT), and AWS Fault Injection Simulator (FIS).

Key ResponsibilitiesPerformance & Scalability

  • Define and execute performance test strategies coveringLoad, Stress, Spike, Endurance, and Capacity testing.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize test scripts usingJMeter andLocust; parameterize, correlate, and modularize for reusability.

Reliability, Resilience & Recovery

  • Design and runFailover,Disaster Recovery (DR), andResilience tests to validateRTO/RPO, multi‑AZ/region failover, and recovery runbooks.
  • UseAWS FIS to inject faults (network latency/packet loss, CPU/memory stress, AZ disruptions, instance terminations) and validate blast radius containment.
  • Partner with SRE/Platform teams to definechaos hypotheses, measure steady state, and implementauto‑remediation andgraceful degradation patterns.

Cloud & Observability

  • UseAWS DLT to orchestrate scalable distributed load tests; automate workloads viaCloudWatch Events,Step Functions, or pipelines.
  • Instrument and analyze performance usingAmazon CloudWatch, X‑Ray, and APM tools (Dynatrace/AppDynamics), plusPrometheus/Grafana.

Engineering & Automation

  • Integrate performance tests intoCI/CD (GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps/Jenkins/GitLab), with auto‑gating based on thresholds.
  • Build utilities/frameworks for data generation, environment setup, and report automation (Python/Java).
  • Analyze results (percentiles, tail latency, saturation), identify bottlenecks (DB, cache, network, I/O), and drive fixes with DevOps/Engineering.

Game Days & Readiness

  • Plan and facilitateGame Day exercises simulating peak traffic, dependency failures, regional outages, and DR drills.
  • Document test plans, hypotheses, playbooks, andpost‑incident reviews with measurable improvements.

Nice to Have

  • AWS Certification (Solutions Architect/Developer/SysOps/SRE) —plus.
  • Experience withKubernetes/EKS, service meshes (Istio), HPA/auto‑scaling, and pod/resource tuning.
  • Knowledge ofCDNs (CloudFront),Edge compute/Lambda@Edge, andWAF impacts on performance.
  • Familiarity withsecurity/perf trade‑offs, TLS tuning, connection pooling, and circuit breakers.
  • B.E./B.Tech
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in performance engineering for web, APIs, and distributed systems.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Apache JMeter and Locust (test design, correlation, parametrization, CI integration).
  • Practical experience with AWS Distributed Load Testing (DLT) and AWS Fault Injection Simulator (FIS).
  • Deep understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, WebSockets, REST, gRPC, and messaging systems (Kafka/SQS).
  • Proficiency in Python and/or Java for scripting and custom extensions.
  • Solid grounding in scalability patterns, caching (Redis/Memcached), databases (RDS/Aurora/DynamoDB), and CDN behavior.
  • Hands-on experience with observability tools: metrics, traces, logs, dashboards, alerting (CloudWatch, X-Ray, Prometheus/Grafana, Datadog/New Relic).
  • Experience executing Load, Stress, Spike, Endurance, Capacity, Failover, DR, and Chaos/Fault Injection tests and interpreting results.
  • Ability to define SLIs/SLOs, capacity models, and performance budgets; strong data analysis and communication skills.
